boxer of the year so far....

Post by boxerbob »

if pacman beats oscar then he wins it by a mile.

and please no entries for the sooopahstar that is joe calzaghe , beating 2 old men with a combined age of 83 is not great but sad as he should have fought them 8 years ago

Agree about Pac. Otherwise, my vote would go to Margarito who beat two fellow title holders by stoppage in 2008 and is the only fighter to have beaten either of those men (Cotto and Cintron).

So going by your thought, Hopkins can't be fighter of the year, as he's one of those old men even though he's just beat the middleweight champion!

Antonio Margarito.

Vic Darchinyan and Juan Manuel Lopez have both had a great year as well. I haven't seen Darchinyan vs Gorres though.

Its actually quite a tough call, no real outstanding canditates - it might be Joe actually.

Haye's put a beating on Chinny Maccrinelli and beat a Heavyweight you'd EXPECT him to beat.

Margarito did brilliant against Cotto, but hadn't done much before or since.

Cotto would have been the fighter of the year had he beaten Margarito.

Vitali's comeback was impressive - but surely not enough to win him fighter of the year.

Darchinyan, Montiel or Calderon for me I think.

yeah margo's win over cotto was superb.

shame it was just the 2 fights.

they should have shared a card to end this year and been in meaningful match ups.

shame on you mr arum. :shame:

calzaghe in 2nd place.

pac obviously has a toughy coming up against oscar.

and the marquez win was a bit lucky if truth be told.

southpaw - yeah mate joe has put british boxing in the spotlight but i still think his 10 year of wbo fights were nothing short of disgraceful

old bones - i think like many hopkins beat joe , joe has a thing where he wont fight a guy who many thought beat him..see robin reid.

so far margarito looks like the winner
