old bones - i think like many hopkins beat joe , joe has a thing where he wont fight a guy who many thought beat him..see robin reid.
so far margarito looks like the winner
What you think is irrelevant Joe beat Hopkins, more people would agree with this than disagree.

jesus at 40 , 35 , 30 , 25 , 20.....hopkins would hammer joe
hopkins is great , calzaghe is good

Eh? Cotto's only other fight was Alfonso Gomez so how does that work?stujones wrote: Cotto would have been the fighter of the year had he beaten Margarito.
Cintron> Gomez so by that logic you just argued that Margarito is fighter of the year!
Re: boxer of the year so far....
good call on Dawson - I think "combined" Johnson and Tarver are better than Hopkins and Jones. And I think the Johnson win was far less controvesial than the Hopkins win - IMO.
Actually, thinking on it - I think Hopkins holds wins over Joe and Pavlik in 2008.

Calzaghe or Pacman will get it, if they truly deserve it is another matter, as I had both losing this year. If Haye had Mormeck in Jan 2008, instead of Nov2007 I would give him my nomination, as it is I would give my vote to Hopkins, had him beating Calzaghe aswell as Pavlik. Marquez deserves to be up there Casamayor and most had him beating Pacquaio. Darchinian also needs some recognition for putting on perhaps the performance of the year against Mijares
