I'd like a pm for stream as well, thanks
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
No round by round from me as I have to keep running upstairs to crying (not very well) baby.
But Appleby has won the first 5, Pickering looks like he is trying to survive and his shipped some punishment from the off.

Na Sky Sports, a poor Performance by Appelby imo.. A win is a win tho...
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
Are we ever going to get Appleby vs Lindsay? I reckon Lindsay has every chance, going on that

It must be order for his next fight. Im with you on going on that to.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
Appleby is a hard puncher but you would like to think Lindsay could pick holes in the defence, given that performance. However, it could be an off night and Lindsay's suspect workrate makes it an interesting one.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
That was my first look at Appleby, I thought he looked pretty decent for a 21 year old?
A good learning fight too, better than banging over TBA.
Perhaps only a lack of power at this level?

Yeah maybe, he was looking for the 1 big single shot all the time, maybe when he put them Coms together and 2 or 3 of them shots hitting one after another will take affect.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
He did send Pickering sideways early on - one for the highlight reel - but could have let it flow more. sometimes your oppo doesnt give you that chance
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
Many people claimed this was a mismatch and that Esham would have been knocked out easily, i'm glad Esham did himself justice, he maybe in the twighlight of his career but he gave the Scot a valuable educational experience.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
esham did well, moved well defensively and when he did open up in the 9th had appleby in a fair amount of trouble, if the round had gone on a min longer it would have been very interesting. appleby looked knackered.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
Appelby came back really strong right at the end of the 9th, after being in a little trouble. He would have been fine no matter what. Watching it right now.rhino222 wrote:esham did well, moved well defensively and when he did open up in the 9th had appleby in a fair amount of trouble, if the round had gone on a min longer it would have been very interesting. appleby looked knackered.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
Can't believe the judges had it so close. Esham's done at the top level. He did the best that he could and that was to survive and that seemed to be his mindset from the first bell.
Appleby, though very promising, still has a lot to learn and the Esham of a few years ago would have exposed his flaws.
I know that Esham will carry on boxing because he needs to - and will actually get some decent purses because of his past record and the fact he's now beatable - but he's a faded force.
He's had a good career and I've really enjoyed watching him.

Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
fair points ian, but lets not forget esham was boxing above his weight against the young boxer of the year, i thought esham did well, and appleby will learn a lot from that fight.

Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
agreed mate and that was what i was looking for in this fight really, i didn't think it was quite the mismatch some were saying when it was announced (and i really hoped Esh wouldn't get stopped early) and for his 13th or whatever fight i hoped it would make a good learning fight for Applebyrhino222 wrote:fair points ian, but lets not forget esham was boxing above his weight against the young boxer of the year, i thought esham did well, and appleby will learn a lot from that fight.

Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
You have to say well done to Paul Appelby - but I am gutted for Esham Pickering - really wanted the lad to win.
Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
This was probably a good learning fight for Appleby, as even though Pickering has seen better days he still has the experience to fool his way through the 12 rounds. I think Pickering went downhill after he stopped calling himself "The King of Sting"
Anyway, a decent main event but the undercard was really wafer thin.

Re: appelby vs pickering round by round
I agree, they could have done with another interesting match up as support. To be honest, the main event was a bit limited too- most people felt that this was a little beyond Pickering at this stage- and thats how it proved to be. A decent enough match up- but is this the quality of match making we have come to expet from British title fights?steve689 wrote:
