Nicky Booth gets two years
Are you Mark Baker?J wrote:i must admit I tend to have a softer approach to someone belting someone else late at night having been in a fair share of rumbles when going home its very easily done, and if I in one case or someone else in others had wanted to press charges it coudl well end up in court then who knows.
fortunately its not happened and Im past the age when I get so freakin hammered that I cant steer myself away from trouble.
Burgarly though is something different its not a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, its premediatated and its happened to me before, its friggin horrible knowing someone has been in your bedroom and through your stuff, violated your space. Give me a smack in the mouth anyday over that.
Despicable in my view, but that just my take.
you native to the area Bennie? Do you know my local pub to the area the baring hall, get a free blood transfusion with your pint.
Wouldnt say its rough but the first time I walked in there the gaffer used the line out of ID "i smell bacon" charming. Was offfended he though I looked like a copper. gutted and i got shit off my mates for weeks (not thats theres anything wrong with coppers) but you can understand.
I dont drink there now, well not unless its with a few lads, not a place to take your other half. sheesh

Small world. I'm from Catford. I know Grove Park well, Marvels Lane was my first boxing club.
Dean Francis should definitely be removed from the bad boy list. It was TWO blokes who he defended himself against (according to Dean) and they came off a lot worse, so Dean ends up in the slammer. Very fair.
I actaully really enjoyed watching Nicky Booth box so from that point of view find it sad what's happened to him :( . He used to put every ounce of energy into his contests.

Thanks for this Butch, I don't know Dean but always thought he came to the rescue of a girl who was being threatend by two plonkers.THEBUTCH wrote: Dean Francis should definitely be removed from the bad boy list. Thanks for clearing it up.
By the way, completely agree just like Dean's career, it was very unfair.
I'm not an authority on the subject StuJones, but like you, understand it was outside a Kebab shop or something similar and two blokes were giving a girl some grief and Francis intervened. What stuck in my throat even more was that the Board denied him a licence when he came out of prison and made him wait longer still.
I was nearly in the TV set willing him on when he nearly beat Barney.

Yes, Dean got stitched up by an anti-boxing judge.THEBUTCH wrote:Small world. I'm from Catford. I know Grove Park well, Marvels Lane was my first boxing club.

Yeah, but there's time and there's real time: Former pro Rick Edson was jailed on Monday to between 22½ and 65 years in jail. Edson, 36, was convicted of repeatedly punching and kicking police officer Judy Estes in the head and chest as she tried to arrest him for driving under the influence.REAL_DEAL wrote:You do the crime you do the time.
He was hit with the heavier sentence because of an earlier assault on another officer, whom he had run over with a motorbike.

Incidentally, nobody from Booth's family was there to see him sent down.

.
And used to play circket at the bank ground in catford, small world indeed.
I train (for fitness purposes only Im no budding wannabe) at downham gym sometimes.
Nice little area upstairs with bags and stuff. Dont go as much as should.
In that case J, do me a favour and pass on my support to Richard (forget surname, but the trainer at Bromley and Downham) regarding Sam Webb.
He wrote to Boxing News saying that Sam appeared to be winning his bouts with agression and not skill. Someone wrote back the next week saying this was not the case and it was sour grapes on Richard's part (or something along those lines).
Having seen Webb since a junior at Bromley and Downham I have to agree with Richard. In this years ABA's Webb seemed hellbent on getting in a war every time and neglecting the very good skills Richard and his Dad taught him.
