Darren Sutherland. Introducin myself to the boxing fans.
Hi, as many of you may already know, i have recently turned professional with Frank Maloney. I have seen that boxrec may be a great way of interacting with boxing fans and keeping them up to date with my career. I will sign in from time to time to chat and get involved in sensible discussions.
I would also like to take this opportunity to invite you to come along to the Dublin show taking place on the Dec 18th. I will be making my professional debut and hope that i can go on to achieve great things in my career.
I am currently based in London training with my new coach Brian Lawrence in preparation for the upcoming fight. So far, trainin is goin great and im enjoying the new challenges posed by the professional game.
Thanks for all the support

I know for a time there was talk you might have to retire from the amateurs due to eye damage (a few years back anyway).
How is the eye trouble? Is it now 100% cleared up?

Always exciting to see the top prospects. Looking forward to the 18th.
Re: Darren Sutherland. Introducin myself to the boxing fans.
Darren the Amateur Middleweight, weight limit is about 165 lbs and that is with same day weigh ins.
Why did you decide to move up to the higher 168 lb weightclass in the pros rather than doing what most boxers do and drain down to their nearest weightclass ?
Also best of luck with the debut, there's a good chance I'll be in attendance

If you are Darren (unfortunately there are a lot of imposters on the internet) good luck - your style is definitely more suited to the pros.Darren Sutherland wrote:Hi, as many of you may already know, i have recently turned professional with Frank Maloney. Good luck with your career, Frank Maloney has helped guide many fighters to world title challenges and even title wins so hopefully you'll be up there with the other guys.

Hi, and welcome. I hope your transition to the pro's goes well. You're definitely with the right promoter and let's hope you get matched well, thus equipping you with the tools and experience to perhaps, one day fight, and hopefully win a world title.
Re: Darren Sutherland. Introducin myself to the boxing fans.
Looking forward to it - it's shaping up to be a great bill, and you're in good hands with Brian Lawrence - he knows his stuff. I'm gonna take in the show and head up to Dundalk afterwards to see the relatives. Should be a great weekend.Darren Sutherland wrote:Hi, as many of you may already know, i have recently turned professional with Frank Maloney. Re: Darren Sutherland. Introducin myself to the boxing fans.
Hey ya, Yeah the eye is 100% thanks.. i think everything happens for a reason and even tho it was a very low point in my life, i feel it has made me stronger mentally and more determined than ever to succeed. Prior to the injury, i was not really enjoying my boxing as i put so much pressure on myself to be the best. Im my own worse critic! So since recoveryin from the injury, I now treat everyday like it could be my last and now I really enjoy my boxing. I know that at end of the day, you cant do anymore than ya best!! And thats what i give everyday!!

Re: Darren Sutherland. Introducin myself to the boxing fans.
I'm English but I'd love for you to get revenge over DeGale sometime in the pro's - I really don't like him, perhaps it's his arrogance and his need for attention. Can I ask you if you would love revenge or doesn't it bother you, Darren?
