if eubank and benn had they opponents they would be undefeated for years too
calzaghe has not fought a great in his prime - why is that????

The first 2/3 I'll give you, Joe hasn't gone across the water and taken on a peak P4P'er.

However the last 3 Calzaghe has comparable performances on his record. You don't sound very old to me and I suspect you are looking at Razor Ruddock and Pedroza's record without actually knowing very much about them.

Pedroza was past his best, and Ruddock basically had a name for giving Tyson a losing argument and little else. Calzaghe's wins over Kessler, Lacy and Hopkins are up there with those wins for Mcuigan and Lennox.

It's not the names on the record (although there are a few light middles there). . . It's the fact that in 11 long years only 22 were fought.

Hatton made 16 defences of his WBU bauble.... in just 3 years.

I'm a Calzaghe fan and always have been, but i'm a rational man and boxerbob is not to far from the truth, at least in my opinion anyway.

Clazaghe has redeemed himself in most peoples eyes over the last 2, maybe 3 years, but lets not forget the history. He was under an emmense amount of public pressure at the time he took the Lacy fight. Fans everywhere were voicing their opinions saying he was the biggest waste of talent ever to step between the ropes. The Yanks, us Brits, christ almost everybody everywhere had had it with him fighting stiffs year after year after year. He was being slagged rotten, he was all set to retire with little respect from anyone. The pressure had gone beyond boiling point. It was only then that Calzaghe FINALLY took on a real live challenger. He has since fought Kessler, i'll give him props for that, but Hopkins in my opinion does not really count, no matter how good he had been looking in recent fights. Calzaghe barely won that fight, all it really showed me was what the likely outcome would have been had they met around the turn of the century. As for Jones Jr..... please!

Calzaghe is being hailed as the greatest British fighter ever but thats nonsense. Lacy has since been proved sh*t, Kessler has still yet to prove himself if the truth be told. Both Hopkins and Jones were old men. All those years of dodging. Joes record just does not stand up.
