Lockett showed very little heart or anything else against Pavlik. Jennings can at least hope to show more than that.
He may show more heart, but it probably won't stop Cotto ending the fight whenever he chooses.

It will still be less humiliating than Lockett's performance.

In recent years, it had been one (or maybe 2) a year. Wasn't Hatton-Mayweather the only PPV in 2007? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think even DLH-Mayweather was on regular Sky Sports in the UK. It's just getting silly now.
Yep I think everything here is correct.

Yep, he probably won't get paid alot as its a mandatory..... just hope he catches Cotto and stuns him or something - just to make a name for himself and get more paydays.

Its Holigan vs Chavez
Foster vs Wright
Wenton vs Barrera
Lloyd vs Barrera and Austin
Locket vs Pavlik

all over again.
Yes, though at least Holligan deserved a shot ( I think, going by memory ) and looked a great prospect, as hard as they come. But got the toughest ask of any Brit fighter ever, probably - Chavez in Mexico.

I don't mind this fight. The ultimate aim is to finally fight someone really good -- the money, the occasion, the spotlight...

When he retires he can say "I fought multiple weight champ Cotto in the Boardwalk Hall (or wherever) in front of fifteen thousand rabid Puerto Ricans"

rather than

"I beat a bloke with an unpronounceable name once. He went on to win the EBU title. It was the real EBU title as well. I could've fought Miguel Cotto, yeah, but I was too busy defending my WBF belt top of the bill in a leisure centre."

Is it deffo gonna be PPV, then? That is harsh. I won't be buying it, but good on the lad for taking the fight. You've got to admit that it's good timing: there's not going to be a better time to fight Cotto, is there, than right after Margarito used him as a doormat.

Yes but in retrospect Chavez was past his best, I think his first defeat by Randall was the next fight.

I'm a scouser so I have a lot of time for Holligan but I don't think he was ever either a great prospect or as tough as they come. Good solid fighter though.

Not sure what Holligan did to justify a world title shot more than Jennings has?

Hopefully he doesn't go in to the ring beaten like Lockett. Fingers crosses this could end up in the smaller Junior Jones v Richard Evatt column (remember that?) rather than the one above.

So was this the big announcement? I haven't been keeping track or was it the signing of De Gale which i have read about?

I wouldn't say at least most of those were the best in Europe at the time. I consider Mike the best Welter in Europe.

Jennings is a good technician, he wont capitulate like Lockett.

And he's brave as chuff.

In America, these are on PPV, from different locations I believe.

Who said anything about a British PPV - have I missed something? Is there a British card that's going to coincide with it (so we pay £15 for, say, both)? Or will some British fighters like Khan be fighting in America?

I asked the question whether it will be a UK PPV because it's rumoured to the same night as The Olympians debut. Others have asked whether Khan will be included, thus justifying it as a PPV. I think it might be a little too soon after 6th Dec for Khan. Especially if he gets cut.

Have you heard that the Pavlik and Cotto fights will be in different countries?

Thought they were going to be in different states - Pavlik in Ohio and Cotto in NY or somewhere.

I get it now, the DeGale debut in Feb. Yep, looks like another chance to extort PPV from us who don't know any better! (Incl me)

...and me if I don't go. HBO want both fights in one place, and the strong rumour is the Boardwalk in NJ. Both have fought there before and both sell a lot of tickets there.

Now I come to think of it.... i'm sure I've read/heard Arum saying he's going to put these on in different places, on the same night. I thought he even suggested the Cotto fight to be held in Puerto Rico?

So HBO are refusing that then?

They were, but it's only info. They also refused Karass as Cotto's opponent a few weeks ago. I hope it's not in PR, but with the current PPV sales (they've been really, really, really bad) and ticket sales problems in the US it makes better commercial sense to have both on at one site.
