Hopefully they can all help take the pressure off each other. I fancy Saunders to make the better pro and maybe more of the spotlight being on Degale and Gavin will help him.

Hopefully each of them will be fighting some good domestic opposition in 12 months time, what do you reckon?

They way things are going, I can't see them fighting anyone credible for a while. TBAs all the way for a while yet.

Again I have to ask, where are the other promoters?

Ok, so fight academy and Frank Maloney have one each, but what about Hennessey, and Hayemaker. Both of whom get big support form anoraks for doing a good job, yet neither seemed capable of grabbing a Degale or a Gavin.

Very short sighted of the boys I think. I just hope they are happy with the cash.

Hopefully it's a case of them signing for 2 years apiece, get them all on nationwide tour (alluded to on the BBC) and to 10-0 at the end of the 2 years and then revisit.

Hopefully the 3 of them have made a few quid by then and want to let ambition become the over-riding factor and wave Mr Fwankee adios....

I hope that Frank doesn't take them down the Khan/Hatton route of least resistance for the first 3-6 years (i.e. fighting blown-up smaller fighters, fighting faded fighters or fighting non-punchers and missing out the best on the British scene in favour of obscure South Americans) .... but I'm sure he will :(

They've gone for the money which is understandable, but it's lowered my interest in the fighters if I'm honest

Come on how can anyone be surprised by this? Frank has the track record that few of the others do and even with a smaller stable than a few years back, has the fighters to fill cards all year round. Add to that a Sky deal which will probably allow him to have fights whenever he wants with these guys. Also sticking together I think is a good thing.

If anyone is seriously saying that in the same position they would have gone with a Maloney, Hayemaker, Hennessey, FA etc for less money then, at risk of sounding like Khaosai Galaxy, you're bullshiting

Saunders is the signature they should have all been after - that lad will win more honours in the professional ranks than any of his British Olympic team mates I reckon.

Hennessey has delivered a world title shot 6 years after Froch turned pro- and it could have happened sooner but for the "rival promoters" thing.

Hayemaker himself as a promoter has no track record - but Haye himself got a fast track route to titles.

Khan and Harrison haven't fought for a British title yet! 4 and 8 years since their Olympic truimph.

I wasn't talking UK promoters either, I was talking about GBP - people say they strangle their prospects... Andre Berto aint done badly.

The reason for Khan and Harrison not getting the shot is because they haven'y cut it yet(Harrison promoted himself mostly though)
Nevertheless if your a fighter looking for the easiest and most well paid route to the shot, FW has the track record of providing it.
Macca, Arthur are obvious recent examples, of course JC and Hatton, Barry Jones also springs to mind, i'm sure other examples will come to me, esp if you go down the WBU route

Even Frank seems to have ditched the WBU recently.

If your good enough he will deliver.

Hayemaker seem to prefer signing ex Warren and Matchroom fighters lately and Hennessey pads a fighters record If they are a decent draw like Murray and Froch, otherwise he throws them all In too deep and they get hammered.

I'm not quite sure why but I really don't like James DeGale. For me he comes across as arrogant and really brash - it's almost as if he's believing that he's a world champion already. It'll be interesting to see how the transition from amateur to professional goes.

You say that but what about Darren Sutherland they all went after him and look who ended up with him. It might turn out to be the best move of the lot by Maloney, who claims he did not going after any of the UK team. Why do you say Saunders is the signature they should have all be after ,Please tell me what traveling fighter has made it to the top and i do not mean that to upset anyone.Only time will tell Warrens 3 signature or Maloneys 1 The one thing you can say is these 4 boxers have the best brains in UK boxing looking after them. In 3 years who will be top dog. Degale ,Saunders , Gavin or Sutherland. More so out of Warren and Maloney who will still be there, or will there be a new name on on top of the pile.

How did Barry Jones have the most well paid route to the title? JC was with Warren less than a year before he got a world title fight, again most beating up no names.

Khan is a different kettle of fish all together to Harrison - this boy wanted the big fights, he wanted to fight often, he wanted to be let go of the leash. What Warren has done with him in terms of contract situation leave mixed messages in terms of what he thinks of his talent.

If Warren fed him sub standard opposition constantly cause he knew was a chinless wonder and not going to develop - why did he resign Khan in such a lucrative deal for Khan. Would Khan have been better prepared for Prescott and the Lightweight champions had he faced more geniune lightweights - yes he would have.

Its not through a lack of desire that Khan hasn't (so far) cut it, and if Warren was so worried about his chin - why not ditch him when his contract was up.

Fact is, that exact same balls up Warren criticised Harrison for doing, in terms of opponents, he has done for Khan.

If Degale, Gavin, Saunders don't mind waiting 6-7 years facing the path of least resistance and fighting for an interim or vacant belt against a has been or a British title level opponent for the WBO, admittedly making a small fortune defending the commonwealth belt - then they have done the right thing.

If they wanted to win a title within four years (as most credible olympians do) and go down as greats - then they should have gone to America.

I aint convinced - Saunders and Gavin especially have been preached about for ages. All "fish eyes" needed to do was read here or Boxing News etc.

Degale - I think its just the gold medal that is the attractive thing about him...... I just don't see him alert enough to make it as a pro. He falls asleep in Amateur contest and was a tad fortunate to make the Olympic squad.

Did tremendously well to get the gold, but I think the fact he wasn't given such a hero's welcome as Khan/Harrison says alot about what people think of his future.

Fights whenever he wants? Short memory there Lenny - can't you remember him saying when he joined ITV something like - having the opportunity to get the fights on a Saturday on Terrestial TV will allow me to negotiate with the states and get the big names! Then thanking Setanta for helping deliver Haye vs Maccrinelli and Calzaghe vs Kessler.

So far, since his return - his only Saturday night show has been a PPV (so a small ratings than the Friday night bills)... and sky have been "so kind" to him since his return that they even didn't showcase one of his bills live (put it on a monday evening).

Hayemaker, Maloney, Hennessey and Matchoom all have TV deals of the equivalent (in terms of exposure) or greater than FW has now. If they would have joined Maloney or Matchoom they would be on FNF, Haymaker = Setanta and Henessey = ITV!!!! Now I know which one I would be interested in of those lot. ITV4 on a Saturday night gets more viewers than Sky Sports on a Friday night. The Saturday aspect also means possible US exposure.... as Haye vs Maccrinelli or Calzaghe vs Lacy/Kessler.

If you have been impressed with FW's bills since the return to Sky, then fair play - but seriously he aint delivered. Any US exposure for Saturday Nights card... is there F as likely.

It's interesting and bizarre that Setanta News is mainly full of this news and the allegedly press conference today.

Bunce was hyping the Khan PPV and he has Audley and DeGale coming up on his show.

It's either a great commitment to boxing or Sports Network are returning to Setanta leaving allegedly to do Sky PPV???

It would actually make sense, if Warren is doing cards with all three fighters featuring then I doubt that Sky would have the capacity on a Friday or Saturday night to show all the fights live on a regular basis (6-8 times a year).

Sports Network back on Setanta...you heard it here first

I was saying that Barry Jones had an easy route to a world title, and an easy opponent for the vacant title, his subsequent brain scan failure stopped him cashing in.
By saying JC had a shot within a year of signing, while beating up no names, I presume you are agreeing with me?
Khan and Harrison may well be different fighters but they have both lost at crucial times which is the reason their progress has been stinted. And the end of the day FW can only spoon feed them so much, they gotta do there job to, he has certainly provided opportunity.
I agree they will make small fortunes, facing the usual suspects which will end up getting them an alphabet strap, And I think that is the reason they signed, I can't see it taking 6-7 years though.
It's a can't lose for them really, if they are not up to scratch, like Khan may not be, they still get the fame and the money. And if they do make it they get it all!

I can't see why the daggers are coming out for Degale already. He's brash and cocky, but that's not unusual for a boxer. I take it all with a pinch of salt, because they're in the self promotion game.

Degales can have to change his style to suit the pro game, but if he's got a good chin and fitness to go with his speed and punch-picking then he'll go far imo

Sorry I thought you meant up untill they got their title shot... re Calzaghe and Barry Jones.

Hatton was a millionaire before his proper world title fight with Tszyu, beating alot of the usual suspects for the WBU baubble.

Calzaghe and Jones were not - they were relatively "rushed" into the shot. Calzaghe wasn't fincially secure untill after he won and defended the WBO belt, same with Barry (and he didn't get the chance to defend it).

Alex Arthur was somewhat in between. He could have got a proper title shot earlier had Warren looked for an IBF belt (Arthur was ranked #3), but again the path of least resistance was taken and he waited untill Guzman moved up.

You think it will happen in less than 6-7 years? Look how long it took Hatton, Arthur etc to get the one of the big four... look how long it took for Calzaghe to get unification fight. He could strike lucky and have a champion already at the weight (e.g Like Steve Robinson), more often than not he is so safety first any half decent champion has to move up and vacate before FW will risk a world title fight.... just look at Arthur.

Now great, if thats what they want... but a couple of gambles on terrestial TV and winning a title much earlier they could become mega stars. With earning power of the likes of Eubank, Naz and Bruno.
