I might be being naive, but I think that's the case as Setanta freely mention the other channels. I think it's Setantas 'thing'
I hope it is :box: I think the gameplan is to build a TV organisation around Steve Bunce (and a bit of Premiership). The more boxing news the merrier.

Degales can have to change his style to suit the pro game, but if he's got a good chin and fitness to go with his speed and punch-picking then he'll go far imo
Sorry my comments on Degale were not supposed to be "daggers" just my take on his ability purely an utterly. He has talent no doubt, but prior to the Olympics continually flattered to deceive.

It was on sky sports news as well. According to Ant Evans it be part of Khan pay per view next. He wont work on both channels. Setanta Sports news fills there slot with non spots featured on channel where as sky more about its channels sports.

It wasn't particularly directed at you, I'd just read a few negative posts about him before he's signed a pro contract. I hope he doesn't get the curse of the Gold medal where the fans are looking to get on his back from the off

Oh if you mean untill they get proper big fights, I wholeheartedly agree it will take the 6-7 years, I thought you meant how long it will take for the WBO to become suitably vacant!!!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... 996610.ece

The ever believable sun is claiming FW has spent 1.5 million each on them, if that is the case he will def want to milk these cash cows for all they have got before he risks them.

Saying that do they get this kind of lump sum up front? Or is it a 12 fight 3 year deal, which will include 3-4 title fights of some sort, and that is their take? Obviously with the 2 losing fight invalidation clause!

It will be very interesting how things work out TV wise.

Is Khan seriously going to be "headlining" a sole UK PPV - with no American fights? Rediculous if the case.

I know I have heard Cotto vs Jennings as the US fight - but if Frankie boy doesn't win the purse bids for that and say Arum does... what about HBO's deal with Setanta?

It still took Arthur more than 6-7 years to get even his alaphabet opportunity. Jennings has been sitting at the top of the WBO rankings for ages. actually had two spells as #1 contender. Gary Lockett another one it took along time to deliver again kind of shot.

I wasn't referring to the WBU, but it takes more luck for a WBO title to become vacant. It will happen eventually, but Khan was the "golden" boy and it was pushing 4 years and he wasn't getting his shot in the near future (despite a lofty ranking).

In fairness to FW he will get them the shot if he thinks they are good enough. I don't feel he thought Khan was worth risking. For the likes of Lockett and Jennings, he doesn't think they are going to win, so he is not going to pay the money to bring the champs over like he did for Hatton.
Therefore it is up to the other promoter to give the shot out, FW don't really care either way as there is no money in it for him.
I think FW delivers the title he thinks you are worthy of, Farnell, Takaloo, Jennings, and Lockett get the WBU, Harrison, Arthur, Cook get the WBO, and he got the bigger titles for Naz, JC and Hatton.
Macca was the only one he really misjudged, he really thought the Welshman would beat Haye, so now he will have to stay at WBO level

Good stuff, but if he didn't think Khan was worth risking - why didn't he say FU to Khans contract renewal demands.

I think Enzo could beat Jones for the WBA, or Fracogmeni for WBC

It was a gamble for him, he just didn't want to lose him as his TV deal depended on it, Khan was generating mountains of cash and to save a bit of faith He just banked on his matchmaking winning the day for him.
It's unbelievable he took the advice off Khans obscure new trainer, normally his matchmaking is foolproof, maybe he thought Rubio wouldn't let him down because his job depended on it!!
Perhaps Prescott isn't that great and got a bit lucky, it will be very interesting to see

I think he probably could to, but FW has little control over those bodies and they may stick him with unwanted mandatories.
The WBO is far more accomadating

But he could unify then go back to WBO. I think they be big fights the sort he need for pay per view and olympians if this is the case!!

The problem is the weight is weak, the fighters will want big money for unifacation, when they risk losing there own title, and the market is not there to generate it.
The punters haven't heard of Cunningham of the Italian who I can't spell.
FW will prefer to use the WBO for Enzo v the usual suspects(who cost peanuts) and will earn more money with little risk

I'm not that bothered about any of these guys to be honest.

None of them will enthuse me like Mayweather or Whitaker (for example) so I don't care.

Lol sorry, looking into it his brother seems to be with FW too, between the Saunders and the Walshs there could be a lot of brothers on the same bill!
Is Bradley a traveller too? And are the Walshs travellers?

I think they would have unwise not to go with FW. His track record speaks for itself. If there good enough he will lead them to the world titles and promote them well. If they show obvious frailties, then we'll see a rather more strategic route, which has its logic.

On another note, some joker questioned Saunders potential by asking what traveller ever made it at the top. Ridiculous statement. Saunders is his own man, an individual and cannot be rated or categorised on his potential by the fact he is from the travelling community.

As for travellers who have had success...Johnny Frankham won the British LHW title, Henry Wharton - British, Commonwealth and European titles (also went the full distance with three world champions). And of course, then there are the bare knuckle champs.

Stu, Warren's bills have been shite recently but he is going through a bit of a transition. Also, take Kevin Mitchell, the way he was thrown in with Johanneson after fighting pushovers for so long and really having to dig deep with no real experience of doing so was pretty shoddy. But I like the way they are all together, kinda like a more high profile class of 2001 or whatever it was Hennessey had with Froch, Walker and all. Together with the extra money Frank is bound to be throwing at them and the profile they would have over here compared to the States (if Frank has them fighting in their homes towns (like little Frank would)).

Whilst I like Hennessey he still often struggles, with Witter and Froch, his two premier fighters always struggling to get opposition. Fight Academy have 1 headliner and he is old and often injured. Hayemaker have had 2 shows to date. Although I would have liked them to have gone with Maloney he hasn't the clout that big Frank has
