JOE LOUIS VS BILLY CONN, 1942 FANTASY FIGHT.

WHAT IF: JOE WOULD HAD DEFFENDED HIS TITLE AGAINST CONN JUST A YEAR AFTER BEATING HIM IN 1941? I HAVE TO GO 50/50. LOUIS BY KAYO IN THE 13TH ROUND AGAIN OR CONN BY DECISION.

This rematch was scheduled to happen but Conn broke his hand throwing a punch at his father-in-law (which promted Conn's famous line, "What's the point of being Irish if you can't be thick?"). Would Conn be able to take the encore? I doubt it. Louis would learn from experience and not allow conn to build a lead by boxing. A more aggressive Louis would wear down Conn for a middle-round stoppage.

Louis destroyed EVERYONE in rematches. And Louis was past his best in their 46 rematch as well so I don't know why people disregard that fight. Louis by KO before the 8th.

Who would have won if Conn had agreed to fight Burley in the same year?

Because Louis still had his punching power and Conn lose his speed amd reflexes.

Good point--spped pretty much always goes before power. On the other hand, Louis was one of those guys who got seriously fired up for rematches...
