It's an absolute disgrace that barely 48 hours before the event no opponent has still been announced for Enzo. Have SN issued a public statement of any kind? What an utter farce.

Yep, this looks like the kind of guy FW will pick.
Yes it's going to be this unknown palooka, what a piss poor excuse for PPV - no thanks Frank, Sky should have shown some bollox here and said the same.

Isn't this a warm up for the DLH-Paquiao fight, which, surely, is worth PPV?

It's bordeline for me..I just think the DLH showcase could well make grim viewing - Oscar is being his usual disingenious self, now saying he's "..ready to face King Kong" - when clearly he's not, having avoided Margarito and opted for the much smaller Pacman - who I reckon he's going to walk right through.

And the FW bill leaves a bad taste: serving up Macca another gimme title on a plate, against some unknown coming in at 24 hours notice.

Francisco Alvarez has been named as Enzo Maccarinelli's opponent on Saturday night.

The Puerto Rican knockout specialist, who has stopped nine of his 11 victims, has been drafted into the Judgement Night bill, live on Sky Box Office.

Sports Network have been searching for a replacement ever since Johnathon Banks pulled out after injuring an ankle in training and the 31-year-old has answered the call.

Alvarez will now get the chance of a lifetime to challenge former holder Maccarinelli for the WBO cruiserweight belt on the same bill as Amir Khan's comeback fight.

It will be by far the biggest night of his fledgling professional career - spent largely at light-heavyweight - and the first time he has boxed in Europe in 12 paid contests (11(9KO)-1-0).

But he comes to the Excel Arena with a fine knockout record having finished nine inside the distance, seven inside the first two rounds. He is also the reigning WBO Latino light-heavyweight champion.

His only loss was against rated Uzbekistani Alexander Alexeev, who was ounce touted as a possible foe for Davd Haye - the man who took the WBO belt off Maccarinelli, only to vacate it and leave it open for the Welshman to reclaim.

You can't really hope for much better given the time-frame. I'm unsure whether I wanna buy this now. Bugger.

Well, Ok, looks like this could be a little interesting, as long as Enzo doesn't catch a big shot then he gets his title back, we would assume.

The only boxer with a decent record this guy has faced sparked him in 4 rounds. A Christmas turkey comes early for Enzo.

:o Wow. Is that the opponent? A 31-year-old Latino with no wins over anything but losing record journeymen? Holy shieeeet. The one time he did step up he was sparked by Alexeev - a man Enzo/Wazza are ducking like crazy. So let me get this right - you now get a world title shot by LOSING to the number one contender (Alexeev)? That's beautiful.

Fook it. I'm not even going to bother searching for a stream for this Wazza show. What a farce. Bring on Froch/Pascal.

Apparently this fella has made a late entry in the WBO rankings, do you think it may be significant!

Risky, though, as assuming he were to fly over from Romania tommorrow, landing at teatime, that would give him a full 24 hours to get over his jetleg (which would be minimal from europe anyway.) Nah, I can't see them taking that risk.

Basically if you buy the ppv your paying for one fight on Saturday (DLH/Pac) and that could turn into a pile of s**t. I don't think it will, because I think Pac has a good shot at beating DLH, but one fight is not worth 15 quid or whatever it is they charge these day's. Khan's shitty rebound fight and Maccaroni's sparring session aren't worth watching, especially with Froch fighting for free on ITV.

Not sure if Macca/Warren have ducked Alexeev. Alexeev seems to have stepped aside - he was in the WBO top 2 so he would've got his shot if he wanted it. Is it not rather a case of 32 big European promoters - Warren and Kohl - not wanting to go against one another in purse bids, etc.

I reckon Alexeev would be better served to target Cunningham-Adamek winner (IBF and vacant Ring titles) or Guillermo Jones, who won the WBA strap on a Universum (AA's promoter) bill last time out.

Alexeev isn't going to target anyone who won't come to Germany, because German promoted fighters are just as bad as British promoted fighters. That means the best chance at a title shot he has is Jones. Cunningham may go to Germany, but he won't be all that keen after getting what he felt was a bad decision against him in Poland. Enzo and Alexeev are never going to fight, because neither will get their passport out.

Alexeev has a very big promoter - Cunningham and Jones no strangers to traveling - who'll win purse bids for him when the time comes next year. As you say, if Alexeev doesn't want to be fighting abroad, and if the big Mac Attack doesn't want to fight away, best for everyone, much less hassle for the promoters, if they don't fight.

Alexeev v Cunningham or Adamek would be a very legit fight, especially with the Cunn-Adamak winner being for the Ring title.

"The Puerto Rican knockout specialist, who has stopped nine of his 11 victims"

It makes me sick. They promise us a decent World Title fight with Banks, then Banks pulls out and they fob this shit onto us.

This guy is not a knockout specialist, he is a novice with 12 fights, 11 against utter crap and the only decent guy he fought knocked him out in 4 rounds.

Watch Macca knock him out in the first round and bang on about Hide, Haye and everything else he is going to do. The best fight on the whole bill by far is now Rogan v Harrison.
