I read a while back that his amateur coach Steve Egan was turning pro to train him, but haven't seen it confirmed.

He tried for the Irish team, think he even had a couple of vests, then they found out he wasn't Irish!!
Fury is an Irish Traveller by ethnicity. He couldnt produce his grandmothers birth cert after searching records database in County Galway, so surprisingly as many travellers didnt register at that time, so they wouldnt let him fight in the IABA's.

I'm actually quite excited about this signing, I really feel he has a lot of potential, hopefully Hennessy won't overmatch him, he seems a really nice guy too and I like his attitude

Looks very very promising but many have before, good luck to the youngster. I watch with anticipation. I actually ignored all previous 'Tyson Fury' stuff because I thought the name was a cheesy hype line.

The fact they even went for Swaby for his debut tell's me that Hennessy wasn't exaggerating too much about FURY winning the British Title within 6 months

With his youth, looks, name and the fact he is fighting at Heavyweight with mainstream exposure, he's gonna be far bigger and well known than Warren's 3 olympian signings!

Interesting. He's very young and must be brought along sensibly. Hope Mick doesn't rush things. Of course we don't want the joke build up Warren regularly offers, but if Fury's dedicated to boxing he could have a good future in the sport.

Good to see a heavyweight prospect NOT signing with SN. Warren's a little fish in a big pond when it comes to heavyweights and doesn't seem to have a clue how to handle them.

Best thing about Fury is he seems a real nice fella(although many in the Am game were not overly impressed by some of the people that surrounded him apparently)

Good luck to the lad.
If the rumours of how he has been performing in Sparring over the past 1-2 years are true, then Swaby is not overmatching him one bit.

Good to see that he has not gone with Fwank.

He could prove to be Hennessey's real stand out fighter in years to come.

His Dad seems a bit dodgy to me, but Tyson does indeed seem like a really nice guy. He seems like a gentle giant outside of the ring. I've no idea what he's like inside the ring yet, and I'm looking forward to finding out.
