There is no doubt he`s up for it. He was ready to fight Banks, who although not the most dangerous, he was an unbeaten kronk fighter.

Problem for Enzo is that he has not really beaten anybody of note. The best win on his record is Braithwaite.

I'm here. If anyone has a better solution when every other Cruiserweight has turned the fights down then I'd like to hear it. There is not a lot you can do on a Tuesday evening. Herbie Hide was offered the fight, he received the contracts which he agreed to as did his Promoter, although hadn't signed them. He called the Board and accepted the fight and told all that would listen what he was going to do to Enzo Maccarinelli. he even contacted and assured Robert Smith, Dean Powell and Andy Ayling that he wanted this fight and was happy to get the chance. He was told to go and get a weight check and had an appointment made for him in London to have this done - Job done, or so it was thought.

However, since then no one has seen or heard from Herbie Hide...He's disappeared and his phones constantly off - Hide has well and truely hidden.

So there you have it, check every Cruiserweight in the top 15 and see if they were contacted and they will all confirm they were.

Nextt hing you'll be blaming Warren for Bank's Ankle, Cooks Flu, Fosters Car Crash and Bendalls virus....it's all down to him isn't it!

I definitely give Enzo credit for facing Haye, but he's always been a paper champ in my mind. And he'll remain a paper champ on Saturday when he bowls this guy over in a couple of rounds. Enzo has never beaten an active world champion. Forget the WBO shite - he was the challenger against Haye.

This fight on Saturday should be a non-title 10-rounder. Enzo is not ready to fight for a title (are we forgetting he got twatted in his last fight?) and Alvarez is ranked about 150 in the world - as a light-heavyweight. It's crazy when you think about it.

The reason people are so sceptical is because it happens to Sports Network more than other promoters.
Moreover it is the fact it is on PPV, will you be offering refunds if they are requested?
Also how is it that the WBO accepted him as a challenger, the better solution would to put Enzo in a Brit, Comm or Euro fight if possible, if not just and international 10 rounder.
Hide's behavior doesn't suprise me though.
When Ronaldo or Rooney are injured they are replaced by the likes of Giggs, Scholes and Tevez, not some player from the Doc Martins league!
This being touted as a world title fight is tantamount to fraud, and tarnishes the game.
The only reason you are doing this is for economic reasons

Nobody can blame Warren for this particular pull out, that's not my beef per se. The number of pull outs on shows in general, is however appalling, and seems to be getting worse over time. If that's down to fighters not fancying it, or contractual wrangles, who knows, but it's fekking annoying.

What is shameful, is that the WBO are willing to sanction such a poor matchup as a 'world title bout' which is frankly speaking, an insult to the fans. I've always liked Macca, hell, I tipped him to beat Haye Shows how much I know! But in no shape form or fashion is this fight a genuine world title fight, and the winner doesn't deserve to put the words 'world champion' in front of their name. Simple as. Macca isn't the first to get a 'soft' belt, and he won't be the last, but each case should be talked about on it's merits, and this stinks. If the WBO had any decency (this applies to all the bodies), they would say that this was an eliminator as the quality of the opposition wasn't good enough for a world title belt.

That's not a knock on Enzo, it's a knock on how cheap title belts have become - and I do understand that TV companies demand title belts on the line, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

If Rooney or Ronaldo don't turn up due to injury, there is still the rest of the team, who are hardly shabby are they. It's not like Rooney is replaced by a centre back from Rushden and Diamonds is it?

To be fair, I've heard the same. Hide definitely accepted the fight and was supposedly ready to go on Saturday. Then he scarpered...

Still, that final comparison (Man Utd. strikers getting injured) is one of the worst I've ever heard. Two injured players is not the equivalent of a whole team withdrawing and still charging fans to watch the game - or sticking the reserves out in place against the ladies side.

The point should be that when an event is PPV, there should be a back up plan for situations exactly like this one ie: a guy pulls out less than a week befor ethe fight. A lot of people have bought the PPV expecting a decent nights boxing, what they get instead is not good enough. Surely a back up plan is not too much to ask for when an event is PPV

The promoters dillema there, though not relevant to the sanctioning body in an equitable world, is that they would no longer be fulfilling their contractual obligations to the TV company. They of coruse need to try and find an opponent, and who can blame them for getting onto the WBO and asking for it to be santcioned as a world title fight?

The trouble is, the sanctioning bodies don't run the sport, promoters do, and as such, they acquiesce to the promoters demands. That is part of a promoters remit.
