The excel show on the 6th has not turned out to be the card it was promised to be, and yes, the ultimate responsibility does lie with the promoter. BUT Warren didn't fly out to Italy and bust Bank's ankle, and he didn't give Nicky Cook flu. Injuries happen, and at the end of the day its has happened to every promoter that has ever put on a show, and will continue to do so. Why is there not as much criticism in other sports when injuries occur? Yakubu is out for the season for Everton, so does that mean because their top striker is not going to be seen till next August at the earliest, Everton fans should get their money back off their season tickets? No.....it is the nature of the game: you get on with it and continue to provide the best service to the fans as you can with in the current circumstances.

Hide lived up to his name and hid when he was offered the fight, and as Dean Powell said yesterday at the presser, there was a conference call between Powell, Hide and Rob Smith in which the fight was agreed. Then Hide disappeared and another opponent had to be found with THREE days to spare. There is a serious argument for having credible back up to stop this happening time and time again, and perhaps that is something the BBBoC should look into further, as well as the sanctioning bodies of the sport.

I will be paying for the fight, and the reason being is to see if Khan and Mac react positively to their defeats.......just a shame that Enzo wont have the tough opponent we were expecting.

Firstly, the football analogy was used by Mr Ayling when he was on yesterday and it doesn't wash (it also makes you look like a FWTV rep, which tends to go down like a shit sandwich in these parts). Alex Ferguson, or the Glazers, don't advertise Man United v Sunderland as "Rooney v Gray and Ferdinand v Cisse". So the fans don't expect to see those players. It's chalk and cheese mate.

Secondly, this is the fourth FW event this year that has had scheduling problems:

Guzman v Arthur - May 5th
Enzo v TBA - July 26th
Brook v McIntyre - Birmingham

I've been to more FW events than any other Promoter (I'd guess about 12), but after this year I simply don't trust the cards to be reflective of the time I bought the ticket.

I accept Boxers pull out, but there are more than you've named (e.g. Foster Jr and Macklin v McDermott spring to mind, that's too much of a coincidence. And why in hades wasn't Banks in the UK a week before the fight so he could be kept an eye on?!). There is also another card the week after for Nathan's fight. Why haven't the fighters that are billed for that moved across to make this a good, value for money show again (because when it originally announced at the end of October it was very good indeed).

The simple fact of the matter, in the current economic climate, is that people are more choosy about what they pay for and this resonates down to their passions, even Boxing. To expect the average punter to pay the same price for a much weaker card is fairly arrogant.
