Khan has to strip, Harrison a no-show

Francisco Alvarez failed to make weight at the first time of asking for his WBO cruiserweight title fight with Enzo Maccarinelli, while Amir Khan had to strip to just make it for his clash with Oisin Fagan.

Maccarinelli's challenger Alvarez was an 11th-hour call after injury and a refusal from Herbie Hide left the Welshman without an opponent for his title fight.

Understandably, Puetro Rican Alvarez was not in tip-top condition after getting such a late call, and as he weighed in for his bout on Judgement Night, live on Sky Box Office, he was just over the limit.

Shape-up
Alvarez weighed in at 14st four-and-a-quarter pound, a quarter-pound over the cruiserweight limit, and will now have to go and shift that excess inside two hours and weigh-in again.

For his part, Maccarinelli looked in superb shape after spending so long in training, and he tipped the scales at a powerful 13st 13lb.

After losing two opponents in quick succession, Maccarinelli will be desperate for Alvarez to make the weight as he is straining at the leash to get back into action and shake-off his knock-out by David Haye.

There was more drama later on in the weigh-in for Judgement Night, with Amir Khan having to lose his underwear to make the lightweight limit.

After Irishman Oisin Fagan had weighed in at 9st 8,5lbs, Khan was slightly over the limit so, with a towel covering his modesty, had to weigh-in naked, coming in bang on the 9st 9lbs limit this time around.

Khan was not fazed by the weigh-in though, telling Sky Sports News that he was happy with his conditioning after being trained by Freddie Roach.

"It's the best way to stay right on top of the weight - maybe I should have done more practice this morning but I'm dead on the weight now so that's all that counts," Khan told Sky Sports News.

"It's been a tough training camp and I'm going to fight full of confidence. I've done the hard work in the gym now and it's just about doing it in the ring now.

"It's going to go a few rounds, I want it to go a few rounds. I'm going to get in there and box him a little bit and get back to boxing properly and take my time."

Audley Harrison failed to show up on time for his weigh-in, where Irishman Martin Rogan measured 16st 8lbs.

WTF is going on with Harrison these days? Guy doesn't even turn up for the weigh-in. Rogan has Fraudley running scared lol! Will Harrison even turn up for the fight, will there even be a bout for Audley having failed to make an appearance at the weigh-in?

this whole card is a shambles, and shows complete lack of control by FW. Absolutely no-one at work has mentioned this bill, or Carl Froch, which to me means boxing just is not in the publics mind anymore. Love em or hate em, we need the likes of Benn/Eubank/Naz and Lewis back.

I wouldn`t say we need Benn,Eubank,naz and lewis back .. but we certainly could do with some fighters who can bring that type of excitement back(except Lewis of course )

Benn and Eubank burst onto our mainstream tv screens when they were about 24-25yrs old, and naz when he was 20 ... they gave us edge of the seat fights that didn`t always go the way we wanted them.

Todays fighters that get similar hype are not providing that sort of excitement because of the totally onesided nature of the matchmaking, sure the hype job Amir lost last time - but that was totally not in any script,that should never have happened .. heads rolled.

As said, nobody in my works either seem to be talking about the boxing, mention Audley or Khan and they just say `what bum they fighting now?`, mention Froch and its a puzzled look you get back `who?`

When there is a good fight like this one I try to put the word around so people watch it, doing my miniscule bit for getting the viewing figures up.

One guy at work mentioned this morning that Froch is all over the papers.

I don't think it's doom and gloom at all. Compare our position to fans in the states. They get nothing on regular tv and pay way more than us for PPVs. That is not an endorsement of this (in fact, any) Sky PPV by the way.

Have you seen Alvarez at the weigh-in? He's a fat light-heavy. What a shambles. He actually looked embarassed up there on the scales. No muscle definition, no sign that he's even a boxer. Enzo looked a little better than normal, which is good. No point coming it at 200lbs, when the final five pounds aren't 'good' pounds.

Just looked at the rankings. Valero's pretty high. Jorge Luis Teron will be removed after losing his fight last night. Khan is unranked but I'm sure will be ranked if he wins tomorrow.

I think even if it is a non-title fight, the opponent has the right to claim his purse without fighting if the fighter is unable to make the weight.

Listening to Martin Rogan being interviewed, what a class bloke he comes across as, he looks a genuine tough guy that don`t need to talk shyte to give himself confidence .. where as Audley

I still see Audley getting the stoppage sometime after the 5th ... but I really hope i`m wrong and Rogan mauls Audley into submission.

The only highly rated WBA opponent called Valero theyd put Khan't in with is the Albions delicate midfield playmaker.

Even then only if he scaled 7lb less come the bell.
