WBC #12, IBF #15, WBO #5 middleweight Daniel Geale (20-0, 12 KOs) dominated WBO #12 super middleweight Daniel McKinnon (12-4-1,6 KOs) over ten rounds at the Campbelltown Catholic Club, Campbelltown, NSW, Australia on Friday. Geale scored with accurate straight lefts and right crosses consistently on his taller opponent. A solid right hand dropped Mckinnon in round four and in round six he was on the canvas again compliments of a hard body shot. In round eight the Kiwi was down on twice after Geale connected with hard combinations. Geale suffered a flash knockdown in round eight. Scores were 100-87, 100-86 and 100-87. Geale holds the IBO world middleweight title and is chasing fellow Australian and former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine in a bout that should happen in 2009.

In one of the best fights for 2009, Lenny Zappavigna (17-0, 13 KOs) looked world class in stopping two time world challenger Tommy Browne (26-6-1, 11 KOs) at 1:55 of round six. Browne edged rounds one and two but Zappavigna came back to control rounds three, four and five. A hard body shot dropped Browne in round six and referee Les Fear crowned Zappavigna. The IBF Pan Pacific jr welterweight title was up for grabs in this bout. Browne had lost a points decision to In Jin Chi in a WBC featherweight challenge and WBA featherweight champion Chris john defeated Browne by TKO in world title challenges.

Former Australian welterweight champion Matthew Paulley (17-5-5, 7 KOs) won a six round technical decision over David wiremu (14-19-3, 6 KOs) of New Zealand. Paulley suffered a bad cut on his left cheekbone in round one due to accidental head clash.
