Michael Hunter returns tonight (plus undercard)

Post by whicker »

Hunter appears to be back tonight, on the undercard of the Lynes fight. His opponent looks capable, too. He is coming over from France, but hunter should be able to deal with him quite nicely.

Also seven other bouts on the undercard, not many names I recognise though.

Do you know what's prompted his return? I thought he was retiring for good.

Anyhow it will be good to see him back.

I'm just going off the Boxrec schedule, to be honest.

lets gethunter in with pickering again, it will seehow much hunter hasleft in terms of ambition, and it will seehow much 'old father time' has affected esham.

i know esham wantsit bad,and it would make a tasty bout....

Did you see Esham in his last fight ?
Think you've got that wrong.
Think it would be a poor contest as a rematch.

Esham may be past his best but did himself credit against Appleby, many posters here thought he would be knocked out, he is still competitive at domestic championship level. Appleby is the weight above and many posters see him as the next big thing

I read that he has fell back in love with boxing again after some time off.

He went through a bit of a bad patch after his Mother died and apparently split up with his girlfriend,he has been sparring with Paul Truscott and seems to have found his old vigour,he said he really wants to give it another go.

Thats the way I heard it. Michael was a real value for money fighter at one time with total belief in himself. I wish him luck and hope that he can get back to where he was. Nice kid, he deserves to have a bit of luck after the bad spell he has been through.

I always thought Hunter had more to offer despite coming short against Molitor, no shame there. A new lease of life up at Featherweight perhaps? An interesting addition to the title mixup.

So is he going to be a Feather or Super Bantam. I'm getting a little knarked at boxers using the weight as an excuse.

Hunter said he was dead at Super Bantam, then he fought at Feather - looked poor, then he retired, announced a comeback at Super Bantam and now seems to be wanting to fight at Feather.

Alex Arthur - adamant that he was robbed fought well and is not dead at the weight days after the Cook fight - now he is saying he is dead at the weight.

Andy Morris - blamed the weight for the John Simpson defeat (last one). Although no mention of a weight issue immediately after the fight.

Wish they would just stick to the one story.

It was a decent fight, too. A strong opponent, who let himself down a bit with a very slow start. Had he gone for it from the bell, it could have been very close.
