Enzo Mac
Re: Enzo Mac
Don't think you can say that yet
Re: Enzo Mac
I am really starting to dislike him - he seems to talk more shit every time he speaks.
"Against Haye I made mistakes"
No Enzo, you got your arsed handed to you by a better fighter - get over it.

Just because he said mistakes doesn't mean he doesn't achknowledge Haye to be the better fighter.Dioufy wrote:I am really starting to dislike him - he seems to talk more shit every time he speaks.

Not everyone has to kiss up to someone who beat them as bad as some expect.
Haye made mistakes against Thompson too when he fought him too soon and over exerted himself.
Re: Enzo Mac
Haye had the balls to do an interview along with Thompson at Ringside. Mac on the other hand thinks he's in Haye's class but made mistakes. He was never anywhere near Haye's class. In truth, Haye made him make mistakes, and would have done so no matter what tactics Mac chose. Mac is deluding himself.
Re: Enzo Mac
Max,
I never once said that I expected Enzo to bend over and "kiss" David's arse. But he never once acknowledged Haye's superior skills and speed. Enzo and Enzo Calzaghe have been so classless when it comes to giving Haye credit for smashing Maccarinelli up - it's actually been embarrassing at times. Like the lad above me said, have you seen Haye's post-fight interview with Thompson? He has arm around him and he has nothing but praise for Thompson and the way he fought, absorbing all them shots and stopping him when he was out of gas. Then look at both Enzo's reactions when Haye smashes him into the ground - it's pathetic because David is most definitely a step-up in class against Macca, but they fail to see and acknowledge that. He's just simply deluding himself, and his fans.
It's sad really.

Re: Enzo Mac
Enzo looks a million dollars beating up on punchbags. He has every shot in the book. It's only when he comes up against guys that look to punch with him and get there first that he falls apart. He shit himself against Haye because that very thing happened. There are leagues between Haye and Enzo.

Re: Enzo Mac
Fair play to Enzo, two changes of opponent, ends up against a heavyweight, albeit a shit one, and he went out and does the business, cannot do more than that.
Always liked Enzo, he let himself down in the wake of the Haye fight, but that is just dissapointment and embarrassment, he will come again. Will hopefully get some meaningful fights at cruiser, because he has no future at heavy.

Re: Enzo Mac
Didn't Enzo Calzaghe say something along the lines of "if it had gone passed 7/9 rounds, then Mac would have destroyed Haye?
Just one slight problem with that - Haye starched him emphatically in 2 rounds, and many of us knew he would do.

He said that if it would've gone 12 rounds then Haye would never have fought again.

Re: Enzo Mac
Due to a loss of ticket sales? I like Enzo, but they were a class apart that night. It'll happen to Haye, too.

Here it is.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7301849.stm
"I think the same of Haye as I did before. If Enzo went 12 rounds with the guy, he would have destroyed him. "
That is like saying, if Enzo Mac had a special forcefield around his chin, and David Haye didn't, then Mac would have hurt Haye badly over 12 rounds. Or, if Haye didn't have such a good punch and skills, then Enzo would have hurt him.
There was no forcefield, and Maca got starched as predicted.
I think this proves that they were ungracious to Haye.
Was all the stuff about Haye turning up late for the press conference for real, or just intended for promotion?

Re: Enzo Mac
tonight apparently Maccarinelli and Khan proved their critics wrong.....like anyone said they were gonna lose?
.....not to take away from either of them....Khan i struggle to like, he tries too hard just to say the right things (....you know, the quotes we got when he started training with Roach were the same as we heard when Rubio aka scapegoat took him on)/.....but Enzo i genuinely like, and what has happened in the last week has been a shame and you can see how pissed off he is about the whole thing....he wasn't happy that he ended up with an easy night

I've not heard anything like that but he is best mates with JC, there may be an opening for him thereAnt Evans wrote:I'm not trolling - but I've heard Enzo did an interview where he said he wouldn't fight for Wazza again. Did this happen (link?) or just BS I've heard?

For no good reason, Sports Network rescheduled the press conference for an hour earlier than advertised, on the day of the conference, despite it being late morning/lunchtime (i.e. just a couple of hours after Haye woke up) and then blamed HIM for being unprofessional.Herol wrote:Was all the stuff about Haye turning up late for the press conference for real, or just intended for promotion?

Re: Enzo Mac
Enzo is a good fighter, with a heavy punch and decent speed. He will win a World Title if they get him a shot at the right guy. Cruiserweight division is piss weak right now and I see no reason as to why Enzo cannot beat Banks or Cunningham for that matter.
Just keep him away from Alexeev and Adamek and he should be ok.
His fight on Saturday was a joke, but not his fault. He was ready for the Banks fight and he did look in great shape (more bulk and shape)

Re: Enzo Mac
Sad thing to say because it has nothing to do with Enzo M's abilities or otherwise, but until the Calzaghes and Wazza sort out their issues, he will suffer.
Same I fear goes for Pryce, Rees etc.
Cleverly decided to temporarily get out of the way moving back with his old fella.
The early part of 2009 will reveal all.
If Joe C retires then Enzo C will.
If Joe C retires and becomes a Promotor, then all of the stable will move over and Enzo C wont retire.
However, there may be a big stumbling point - and that is the individual boxer's contracts with SN / Wazza.
Wait and see time, but I have great sympathy for the fighters caught in the cross fire.

Re: Enzo Mac
I like Enzo, but he appears in denial, and i lay that blame one tha Calzaghe camp, not on Enzo himself - That fight on Saturday will have taught him nothing, as did the fight he had pre-Haye.
These fights do little for the home fighter, other than increase their bank balance some - He's learning nothing.
On a side note, I thought he looked in the best shape he has ever done on Saturday.

Re: Enzo Mac
Enzo Macc is a lot like Khan and Arthur - they're good but they're always going to be exposed when they step up in class.
Re: Enzo Mac
lets be honest, the haye v Enzo fight was always about who landed first .. thats why it was a genuine 50/50 match-up.
Re: Enzo Mac
But it wasnt, it was far from a 50/50 fight imo.tonyevs wrote:lets be honest, the haye v Enzo fight was always about who landed first .. thats why it was a genuine 50/50 match-up.
