Frank certainly still is number one. The top of his stable is relatively weak with Haton and JC leaving, but he does have Macca, Cook and Arthur.
But Khan is a big money generator and Sanders, Degale and Gavin may prove to be great signings.
Hennessy now has a foothold with getting Froch the WBC and a TV deal, and now is his time to make progress. Lets see is he can develop his stable or at least poach some new fightere

To be fair, it did start out as agood show. Macc-Banks was not a mismatch, Khan-Fagan may have been in the event, but it had intrigue beforehand. Harrison-Rogan was a fair match. And you had Cook too. So if anybody had bought tickets for that line-up, you can't blame them, and they'd be entitled to boo at what they were eventually served. I guess the lesson is not to buy a ticket to a SN show until the last possible minute!

God.... that was horrible. Seeing a woman eat her own shorts is not nice. :x

Luckily they were black... otherwise there may have been a "fergie/sweat" moment :oo

To be honest... those two girls were pretty shit, and certainly didn't add anything to the show.

The Hennessy show was terrific, and I hope there's plenty more like that. With Froch headlining on ITV with a good crowd and a good undercard.

But, in Britain, the Sky/Khan/DLH stuff will have taken some audience away. Hopefully the Sky figures were low, and that in these economically lean times, Froch's (free) fight was the essential viewing.

(BTW, what are Sky doing with these Warren mismatches? I thought the last 2 years of good Friday Fight Night traditional title fights were about repairing the damage done by mismatches for fringe belts that dominated FW's cards...)

In the bigger picture, I'm gutted that hardly anyone will be talking about Froch as it was the same night as Pac-DLH.

Yup, I fell into that trp before with an SN show. Decent-ish card when I bought my ticket, fish tank sludge a couple of days before.

In all fairness, it wasn't the British stuff that was the PPV, with was the DLH fight, with the British stuff tagged on as a bit of a warm up -- a point not really made here.

Anyway, I don't know why channels bother with exclusive contracts. If I were head of ITV's, Setanta's or Sky's boxing, here's what I'd do: First, I'd draw up a list of all the fights I wanted to make right now; second, all the clashes with potential to be big if macerated properly; third, all the fighters and prospects that I think could be made into viewer-getters.

Fourth, I'd call in all the promoters/managers of the fighters on the three lists, show them the three lists, and tell them that I will give fights only to the people who can make this happen for the lowest price. No negotiations. Promoters simply become managers for the fighters and packagers for me, the TV executive, the real promoter of non-small hall shows these days.

For the life of me, I don't know why the TV companies let it go on like they do. They have all the money, and thus the power.

What do promoters do these days, anyway? Their bills are nothing without TV money. Most boxers sell their own tickets.

Thaxton , Murray and Barker compared to Khan ?

Witter, Hide and Thaxton are at the end of their career, it will be a good challenge to get them some big fights before they finish(Is Hide contracted to Hennessy???)
Murray and Barker have got potential but again the challenge is getting them there, are they better than Pryce and Small?
With Froch now champ, a TV deal in place and FW in his weakest position for a while, Hennessy has got his best chance to drive his company forward.
Hopefully it will force FW's hand into putting on better bills, and the compeition can only be good for the viewer.
Hennessy needs to start putting on regular good shows

Hennessey gets his fighters fights were there out of their league generally and Is praised for It.

Like Walker Vs Karmazin and Thaxton Vs Romanov.

They should be proven to be good enough before fighting tougher fights, not just go Into a tough fight out of their league and not the same afterwards.

Sky surely must realise how it hurts a) boxing and b) their own credibility by having to talk up utter shite like Khan-Fagan and Macc-Ellis?

Froch's fight will have had a few million watching it . How many of those will have heard of Enzo, Cook and Arthur. Khan is a household name due to the Olympics and ITV which backs up my point about Hennessy's deal with ITV.

I've actually noticed the bias has crept back in on Sky since FW has returned, I've enjoyed the previous 2 years of Skys coverage but now it's back to the same old same old.

Thaxton v Romanov. At least Thaxton tried his luck. When Romanov vacated, Thaxton destroyed Melero, and we all know that Melero was mopping the floor with Romanov till Romanov landed that one shot.

On a level of personal achievement, of potential, you'd have to say Hennessy's fighters - or some of them - are delivering.

Wre all know the alternative, Macca v Gunn/Ellis, Khan v Fagan/Bull. Big money, but get laughed at for not being in real fights.

Keep an eye out for Martin Rogan, the big Belfast thumper who shocked Audley Harrison on a 10-round decision on the Khan-Fagan bill in London over the weekend. Unbeaten Rogan, 11-0 (5), has left it late to make an impact in the pro ranks at 37 but his win over Harrison might just snare him a big fight early next year, especially as he is backed by powerful F rank Warren.
I like Rogan, an 'honest' heavyweight in the mould of former Belfast heavyweight star Danny McAlinden. Aggressive and iron-chinned, he was given no chance against the giant Harrison, a former Olympic champion with all the tools, but refused to allow better-boxing Audley to nick the rounds, as is Audley's mindset, and won the fight on 'will'.
A taxi driver by day, Rogan is totally, totally refreshing.

A lot of Sky shows have been poor this year. The format seems to be a semi good main event the rest of the card seems to be up coming fighters against Journey type men. The main event on Friday is very bad. A 40 year old African vs Nathan Cleverly in another commonwealth fight. The chief support should be the main event. Matthew Hall vs Facey should be a decent scrap. Sky should demand better matches. A promoter can't go anywhere without TV.

Just make Hall vs Facey the main event. It will be like watching a fight school event.

This wouldn't of happened if they picked someone a bit well known. Rematch with Joey Vegas would be nice.

:o Steady...

Let's see if he can deliver on a regular basis. I've always been a fan of Hennessy's shows, but his whole 'enterprise' hinges very much on the success of Carl Froch. It always has done and it could have swung one way or the other yesterday. If Froch had lost, the whole idea of Hennessy Sports being top dog would seem ludicrous. It's a really thin line between success and failure for Hennessy. Who else is there? Witter is pointless and, WBC belt aside, always has been. Herbie's good for a laugh, but is hardly going places. Is John Murray still with Hennessy? If so, you've got him as well. Then you've got a few decent English title-level guys who put on pretty scraps but are hardly going to set the world alight.

Hennessy's shows deliver what they say on the tin. They're usually good value. Let's just see if they can sustain it and deliver fights that are worthy of ITV1. It may be easier said than done.

Junior Witter good scrap in comeback shows he still has it
Jon Thaxton European Champ
Herbie Hide in the mix for WBC Title challenge
Danny McIntosh looks like he has potential
Darren Barker Commonwealth Champ
Elcock British Champ
Paul David tough lad and entertaining possible challenger for British Super Middle strap
Murray beats the Scotch lad MacAllister
Tyson Fury looks like he has some promise.
Adnan Amar English Champ looking to beat Craig Watson in next match up
Froch World Champ
looks like a healthy stable to me, so far the shows have been good and I for one expect this to continue.
