Froch draws a good crowd in Notts, can get good ITV coverage. Better than Witter v whoever on Sky at the Doncaster Dome.stujones wrote:Defences in Nottingham, sorry he is 31 - I don't like the sounds of that. Shades of Witter.

[quote="G0mezI cant comment on how it all looked on the TV.
But the guy was bleedin huge.
Usually when i see Froch at the weigh-in he looks a league above his opponent - not in this case.
Pascal struggled to get the last bit of weight off and was rumoured to be 180lb+ on the night.

I find this as quite a contradiction - just because he does not look a division smaller than Froch you look to find an excuse of some sorts for Froch not dominating as you would have liked.
Froch and pascal gave us an excellent fight, which Froch clearly won, he showed us good things as well as one or two bad things .. these bad things may even help his securing the big fights he honestly craves.

Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
That was the sort of performance that would have worked a treat against a lesser opponent. Carl was a tad naive and a little bit too cock-sure. Pascal was a decent opponent who had quick and accurate hands.
If Carl had kept his hands up and actually boxed Pascal, it could have been all over by round 7 - but Carl insisted on making hard work of it. How did he respond to getting cut? He spat the dummy out and tried to take Pascal's head off. Pascal slipped most of those shots and at least half the time Carl went in for a big hit he was met by a hook to the head himself. On the odd occassion Carl boxed, used the jab, slipped and countered, Pascal couldn't compete.
Essentially, I think Carl definitely has the talent, but he needs to get more disciplined with his boxing, cos based on that fight he loses to both Calzaghe and Kessler. Fair play to Carl's chin though, he took some big shots many times through the fight and never got wobbled. Where as Pascal did get wobbled a couple of times, I couldn't work out if Pascal was just one tough bastard, or if Carl really wasn't hitting that hard after all.
Anyway, I hope Carl can improve in a few areas, or he wont remain unbeaten for too much longer.

Thats why Calzaghe will have such an easy time with him, he doesn't fight at a slow pace as a slow pace makes It easier for Froch. The thing that really stuck out was the slow pace - almost like at times the fight was being fought in slow motion.

He may have balls and heart but that won't matter If he keeps eating leather like he does.G0mez wrote:Yeah it's true about the rib and you can see the marks on his left side where Pascal targeted it from the opening bell. His ear has been checked out in Ireland and may require a small op and it affected his balance a bit.
People always have and always will, pick Froch's methods apart. From the ABA coaches, to the England team to his professional career in general. At the end of the day, he has a big mouth and big set of balls and will fight anyone.
People for too long have been drip fed hand-picked fights over the last few years and it's really spoilt things in my opinion. The PPV bill last night on the other channel was absolutely sh*te and the atrocious fights on it were an embarrassment.
What we witnessed last night was two unbeaten, hungry fighters going toe to toe for the best belt in boxing, they both trained like beasts and i'd say that there was more excitement in one of their early rounds than the entire Taylor vs Lacy fight put together.
Pascal was a huge super middleweight and must have been about 180lb in the ring and he is as solid as they come. It was the first type of stlyist that Froch has fought professionally and although Pascal had his moments, he couldn't dent Froch - despite throwing the kitchen sink at him - and ultimately it broke his heart and his engine slightly, from the mid point onwards.
All in all a great dust up and I think fan or not, a lot of folk will tune into the next one.
Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
Well, it was Froch's first world title fight and they were hitting with power shots mostly, and his first fight vs a really fresh lively opponent. That does take some getting used to. I think Calzaghe has admitted how knackered he felt in a really hard fight, for the first time - v Eubank. A good name, Eubank, but a guy who had trained for an easy opponent up at light heavy and took the super middle title shot on late notice.Max Molyneux wrote:Thats why Calzaghe will have such an easy time with him, he doesn't fight at a slow pace as a slow pace makes It easier for Froch. The thing that really stuck out was the slow pace - almost like at times the fight was being fought in slow motion.
Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
Froch-Pascal is akin to Hatton-Witter...and Hatton didn't have the balls.
I feel it would have been a similar fight and outcome.

Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
How was Froch passed to fight with a bad eardrum and ribs?

Yeah, he'll be worried you won't be the same. Not for Froch. His ambition is to be in Calzaghe's face. "He won't fancy fighting me after seeing that," said Froch.
Witter when he fought Harris and when mentallity at his best does a check hook on Hatton.I feel it would have been a similar fight and outcome.

Good analogy that one, hadn't thought of that but the more I do I think it's spot on.Gray-Fox wrote:Froch-Pascal is akin to Hatton-Witter...and Hatton didn't have the balls.

Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
I guess he just kept it quiet, because he's a double hard bastard. Whereas Calzaghe would pull out if he chipped a nail.Max Molyneux wrote:How was Froch passed to fight with a bad eardrum and ribs?

Better to fight Injury free, pride can be a bad thing. Calzaghe won't be like Holyfield when he's gone taking Insane shots on the chin and body like Froch does although, he might not end up that way either, just a possibility with the Injuries he gets and shots he takes.
Shouldn't the doctors In the medicals notice the cracked rib and eardrum though?

Bute wants Kessler more than Froch too since he says the US don't know of Froch.

Re: FROCH POST-MORTEM
i consider myself a big froch fan and was there on saturday but despite the fact everyone is now talking about him more im slightly less convinced , i now know that every fight in theory should be against credible opponents and everyone is always criticising his defense , well now i think will be the time when he comes unstuck , id love to see him go to dominate the world but it aint gonna happen in my opinion , i cant see him beating Kessler in the slightest , i wouldnt fany him against bute or taylor , i even think lacy might be more than froch could handle when froch isnt at his sharpest , other than that well done car . i had him 4 rounds up and many people around me said 5 rounds up , im not sure he was loading up as well as usual though , no discredit to pascals chin but i reckon froch on form would have stopped pascal 8 times out of 10.
