Merging Threads

I agree. For instace, the Enzo v Herbie and Enzo v Alvarez threads were stand alone because they were two seperate issues. But a Hatton thread for whom he should fight next and another saying he should fight DLH next should be merged.

I think it's a good incentive to think twice before opening a new thread. God knows I was sick of page one of the forum containing four Hatton threads and three Khan threads at all times.

Hopefully, over time, this will mean fewer superfluous threads as people get used to seeing them merged if not unique enough to stand alone, which should ultimately lead to fewer merged threads.

It's been in the forum rules since the summer that posters should check before creating new threads. I can't comment about the merging that's happened over the weekend, as I wasn't here. But it looks to me from the logs that it was justified.

How many of this forums users do you think have actually read the forums rules?

Have we honestly got nothing better to talk about than 5 threads all on Hatton, like the 22nd. Which all degenerate into the same thing; "Hatton is hit", "No he isn't". "He ducked Witter", "No he didn't". "YOu don't know much about boxing", "You're a twat". Rinse, repeat, rinse repeat, rinse repeat. We had 3 threads for one card's RBR on Sat.

Obviously your a pro merger/masher, thats cool. But no need to put your point across like your addressing 8 year old's!

A bigger issue than merging threads on this forum is people verbally attacking other posters, which isalso a breach of forum rules Perhaps I should create a thread to discuss that as well.

I would agree, but if i'm honest this forum is pretty tame in comparison to most other boxing forums in those regards, hence the reason i've given up posting anywhere else but here.

You're welcome to take any complaints up with our Emporer; lawllb. But I don't see why creating a thread on this is necessary.

Fair response, but i think a decision should be made once the forums users have had a chance to voice their opinions.

I enjoy this forum, its the only forum of any kind that i visit almost daily. It may seem like a small or tedious issue to some, but the merging of threads has been grating on me lately and its putting me off this place to be honest. Others may not share my view though, hence the reason for the vote!

Is it just me or is anyone else getting a little bit pissed off with all the merging of threads lately? I can understand the mods are only trying to tidy the place up a bit but many genuine stand alone threads seem to be getting all merged/mashed up lately.

I just poped on here now to check the thread 'Froch start time' or whatever it was titled as i'm heading out and would like to know what time to be back in for. I now see that this thread has also been merged/mashed into the ever expanding Froch v Pascal thread. I had to trawl through that just to get the ring walk times.

Come on mods, calm it down a little. Merging is ok by me if two threads are of very similar content, or if there are a bunch of threads all on the one fighter on the front page, but otherwise threads should be left alone. It never used to be like this around here so whatever's changed needs re-evaluating IMO!

Yes I agree.

That happened to one of my thread post Amir Khan's loss to Prescott & I couldn't understand at first, because the title changed & the author & there were all these different messages which didn't necessarily relate to each other.
