When he knocks out someone the same size as him we will have a better idea.

ya can still get an indication of his power no matter who he is knocking out, granted he is no pac man wit punching power, but for the speed he punches he sure packs a hell of a lot of power

power is a very handy commodity - second only to the ability to take a good shot. khan has the former but sadly lacks the latter. result - 8..9..10..out!

yeah i agree with ^^. had khan only been hurt by prescott it might have looked like it was a one punch knockout, whereas he has been put down 6 times. whether he can incorporate good defense to his game will be the difference from him becoming a world champ.

He can try and "incorporate" the best defense all he wants, at some point over 12 rounds he is going to get hit on the chin and we all know what will happen next.

He's got good speed, and can get in very good combo's.
So decent change of KO'ing his opponent.

Khan has enough power to get respect from most of the Lightweights. He's not a one punch knockout artist, but his punches will hurt. Don't forget Khan hasn't scored a proper KO yet. His offence (speed, variety of punches, amount of punches, punch power, etc.) is impressive and has helped him to many TKO victories.

It would be nice to see Khan against someone with an iron chin that can be hit. What's John Murray's chin like?

I liked what I saw on Sat. He's boxing on the move, countering more, as opposed to charging in. Had his hands up a helluva lot more than usual too.

There were a couple of moments when he looked for the finish and he shouldn't have, but overall, I'm seeing the things I wanted to see.

I think he's going to find a lot more finishes fighting that way, they'll be pretty too, he has that speed which guys wont see coming at them.

KO power? Definitely.

I really like this kid, I like his attitude, I like his guts. I sincerely hope his story ends well, there's absolutely no shame in getting knocked out along the way.

To be fair, "proper" KOs are very rare in this day and age, most fights gets stopped by the Ref.

David Haye has bagged himself a few. Edwin Valero has quite a lot. Juan Manuel Lopez has several. Jonathan Thaxton scored one in his last fight (with a cracking punch). Even John Murray has a few.

Yeah, what also springs to mind for me are Lindsay V Matthews, Pacman V Diaz, Rhodes Woolcombe, but then I start to struggle to think of many more.

What I'd class as a "proper" KO is when the fighter is hit and clearly isn't going to get up by 10 (regardless of weather or not an actual count is started/completed.)

Nonetheless, they are still rare, and will be even rarer for someone like Khan who goes bang at it when he smells blood - the accuracy and speed exerted when his opponents have already been knocked pnce down means that refs will simply jump in.

Khan isn't a big puncher, let's not get caught up in the hype.

Speed kills. He has a decent dig on him I think, but he isn't a huge puncher either. Khan's game is speed more than power and it's always the ones you don't see coming that hurt the most.

If he gets his feet planted and times 1 well he can bang hard when he comes forward inaccurately throwing the kitchen sink without his feet properly under him he isn't that brutal/powerful. In time as his footwork and pateince improves the power/kos will come imo

I can see Khan being finished by a wild shot after he's gone in for the KO.
I like Khan and hope he can go far, but his chin will probably let him down at the top level.

Good point. The better his timing and footwork, the more damage he will do. With speed comes power. Of course, he is not at that point yet - some fights he has really hurt his opponents, often those a lot smaller. Then there have been times when his punches seem completely ineffective. In terms of his most recent display, he did seem more composed and with that came heavier and more accurate punches.

You could say this about any light puncher...does it ever happen though?

I dont think you could necessarily say this about all light punchers - there are boxers out there who just have that power to fully KO people. The point with Khan is that he has a decent dig on him and awsome speed, which if timed right will give him the ability to KO people. IN the meantime his speed and power are such that he'll continue getting the TKOs, albeit over smaller less dangerous opponents.

its all a bit pointless talking about his ko power because his fate is not in his dynamic fists but in his fragile jaw. i like the fella, top man outside the ring, but he will continue to be exposed as he climbs the ladder.
