Bit of a weird'un, but all this talk in the wake of the Demetrius Hopkins vs Kendall Holt fight of the "best last-minute replacement since Klitschko" has got me thinking:
What if the whale (sorry, sorry, Kirk Johnson) had not injured his enormous gut in "training", & Lewis demolished him that night rather than fought Vitali?
Where would the heavyweight scene be now? Would Lewis have stayed on a few more years? Would he have met Klitschko later that year & been better prepared (he looked bloody hefty) knowing he was to fight the dangerous Ukrainian rather than the fat Canadian?
What would've happened? Scenarios, gentlemen?

Wasn't Klitschko supposed to fight someone else too. I think Lewis retires no matter what, he had nothing left to prove. He thought so little of Klitschko he took him on short notice
