A couple of decent scraps on Saturday night, any thoughts on the chances of the Irish lads getting their hands on the straps? Magee has an excellent chance IMO unless he gets old overnight but McKay seems to have a big task on his hands.

It would be fantastic if Ireland could establish itself to put on regular shows, the Irish fans are the best, and I would highly recommend any fan going to a Belfast show, you cannot appreciate it unless you have experienced it.

Luke has had the cold all week but seems to have shifted it last night and was bacjk in the gym training hard to make the weight for this fight as they wnat a weight in just before they get into the ring, makes things a wee bit harder for him now but he's revved up and ready to go. (Steve I'll let you know as soon I confirm I will defo be driving, should know early next week)

Luke has a hard fight against Usman Ahmed but is ready for it.

Too true, with that said I think we've had our most ever boxing shows this year. There's been 13 so far in the Republic and one more to go(the Munroe v Trotta/Darren Sutherland bill in Dublin on the 18th), there was only one in Northern Ireland this year.
So that makes 15 Irish shows in 2008, compared 13 last year to (10 in the Republic +3 in Northern Ireland).

Unfortunately I think the credit crunch may cut down on the growing number of Irish cards, it has become much harder for promoters to sell out cards no that there's less disposable income around.

With that said we're guarenteed at least one big(ish) card in Northern Ireland next year with the Paul Appleby v Martin Lindsay British Super-Featherweight title match and considering Paul McCloskey has picked up a British title and Brian Magee will probaby do so aswell I think we will see an increase in both the quantity and quality of bills in the North. Duddy v Eastman was the last big one there, 12 months ago.
