Get real Froch, compared to Joe Calzaghe, a legend, you're a complete nobody. Calzaghe is a Light Heaveyweight these days, if you wanna fight him, you better get a few names and a title under your belt after moving up a weight (which you say you won't do) to get it, but don't hang about cos Joe certainly ain't gonna !!

If Froch was anything but English he wouldn't even be on the radar, it's only cos he's English he reckons the fans wanna see it. No Carl we don't because we don't want to see Joe C fight any nobody's.
Where exactly did he say the words 'get in line Calzaghe, Im the champ you will have to wait.'

Also your saying he refuses to move up in weight, I remember him saying before that he would move up in weight.

If you can find me quotes where Carl says 'I refuse to fight Calzaghe at any weight other than super middle' and 'get in line Calzaghe Im the champ' then Ill aknowledge your post has some kind of reputability.

DG, we know it is down to madness but how can you justify claiming that Hatton is a 'ducker' for not fighting Witter and Taylor is one for fighting every name put in front of him. You can't piss and moan that no one takes tough fights any more then knock Taylor, it is nonsensical.
He only wants Froch because he looked beatable the other night.

He DUCKED out of fighting Eastman!

He DUCKED out of fighting Froch before.

Froch is just trying to call Joe out, what do you expect him to do, write a polite letter which his mum countersigns, and then sent it to Joe?

This is boxing, not crown green bowls mate.

I'd rather watch Froch than Calzaghe any day, Joe is boring as hell these days.
Its not a tickling match either. Of course Froch wants Calzaghe, to try to be the first to crack his unbeaten record and to make a lot of money, which I dont blame him for. If Joe is boring its because he wont risk his hands by going for the KO, and again I cant blame him either, a win is a win, and if its on points fair enough. Dont expect Froch to KO people like he has on his way up, those at the top wont fall over so easily. Froch will have to go 12 with the best at SMW so perhaps he wont be as exciting as he has been.

Froch has a terrible defence...

What, and Calzaghe's is impregnable ?

He's been chinned by 2 x 40 year old veterans on the trot.

Joe can be buzzed, hurt and dropped. Kessler let him off the hook in the 4th round, B-Hop & Jones both stepped back after flooring him.

Froch has a tremendous chin, strong steady legs and can think under attack.

The way Calzaghe went overboard about Froch, slating him and getting personal told us way more than he's actually letting on.

His ego can't help itself. He sees a guy who was involved in an epic Super middleweight fight getting lots of attention and providing thrills and spills to Calzaghe's main fan base :- The Armchair Fan.

So then he sets about discrediting him. Yet when Calzaghe dominated Kessler, Froch was the first to praise him and say what an excellent performance he'd put on for British boxing.

It's just another example of Calzaghe's true personality shining through.

Froch says a lot of different things. He said he would go up to light-heavyweight, then he said he would only go up to 170lb. He says Calzaghe gave up the title rather than fight him, then that Calzaghe wold want to fight him now he was WBC champion. He also said he would beat Calzaghe when he was fighting 8-rounders and claimed his win over Henry Porras proved something or another. The problem Froch has it that he has become to Calzaghe, what Witter was to Hatton. The difference is that Witter and Hatton were contemporaries, when Froch has been little more than a speck in Calzaghe's rear view mirror. The biggest win Froch had before Pascal was a completely washed up Robin Reid who was just there for the money, and Jeff Lacy did a better job on him when Reid was supposedly still motivated. And face facts, who was Pascal?

Let's hope Calzaghe retires. Every time he opens his mouth he's an embarassment, every time he showboats he makes me cringe as much as the Walsh bros, every time he fights it's against an old man nowadays.

Froch is the British heir apparent at these weights (or thereabouts) and could conceivably get fights with Arthur Abraham, Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor - these fights are within reach. I believe he'll just go for these kind of fights, as opposed to Joe's way of agonising, avoiding, defering good opponents, and hiding behind that pile of shit WBO title.

All this about Froch's defence leaving him open to Joe's slaps - boring. Froch needs to develop that defence in case guys like Abraham or Pavlik catch him clean because they can hit like a fvcking volcano.

Yeah it is confusing given that the BBC have Froch quoted as saying he would go up in weight only a few days back.

Also its all well and good saying whos Pascal. Pascal is the guy the WBC said Froch had to fight for the WBC title, they are now saying he has to fight Taylor and if Taylor doesn't want it then the WBC will pick another opponent. It's not like Froch can say 'pick someone else.'

Imagine what the likes of Autobarn would have said if Calzaghe had faced Pascal? He would have been accused of facing a nobody and ducking the big names out there. The biggest fights for Froch are Taylor and Kessler.

Also, why can't Calzaghe showboat? It's part of his style. Watch him as an amateur he did that? Why is it OK for some American to do that but not Calzaghe? I just cannot understand all the bitterness on here

Dud,e don't try to speak for me. Or I might as well give you my log in and you can have a go in my username. Joe didn't need to fight another super middle after Kessler as he unified. It's time that the top contenders scrabble for the vacant belts and Pascal proved himself worthy along with Froch. It was a good, honest fight. Pascal didn't look ready for Calzaghe, but he would have been better than Manfredo and Bika.

Calzaghe just looks like a complete prick when he showboats. And when he does it vs an empty vessel who has dropped him and continues to tag him with lead left hooks/rights now and again, there isn't anything much to brag about.

We can just hope that Calzaghe hasn't poisoned the whole scene for British fighters at these weights with his unconvincing "light heavyweight title" reign, poor ratings and his annoying comments.

Yeah I feel I should point out I dont think Froch is the best guy for Cazlaghe to fight if he does come back, my issue is people complaining about Pascal as an opponent. Like I pointed out, Froch didnt pick him, the WBC did and I dont think there were any better options out there for Froch other than to get the WBC belt and move onwards and upwards.

Id say that if Froch beats Taylor and Kessler (Im not saying he would win both these fights) he may have a half decent shout at being a good opponent for Cazlaghe tho. At the moment I think Dawson is the guy Calzaghe should fight if he stays active.

It's because Calzaghe is robbing us (the British Boxing fans) of an epic fight, possibly a fight where the master gives the upstart a lesson? possibly a changing of the guard fight? Who knows? but I do know it's a great fight for British Boxing, it's right up there with the Eubank-Benn fights for me, both fighters are unbeaten, both are Champions and both look to be towards the top of their game still.

Calzaghe has got an over-inflated sense of importance IMO, where he seems to think that nobody is good enough to fight him unless they WERE a very good fighter 5-10 years ago, but not quite the same anymore. Joe's come out with that ridiculous interview on Bunceys show where he's come out with some ridiculous stuff regarding the Froch fight like "I'll KO Froch in 3 rounds" and "Froch is a few levels below me", but he refuses to back any of it up. It's all talk! I've got no problem with boxers gobbing off, in fact I love it, as long as they are willing to back it up in the ring. At least Hatton had the brains to keep schtum on his situation (re; what he'd do in the ring) 'Clever' Joe can't even manage that.

Finch - Carl probably did say those things (I can't remember), but he'd just listened to Calzaghes interview where he'd crudely slated his performance, his skills, his win and his opponent. Froch's comments were in retaliation to what he said and I think Carl was extremely calm and didn't go OTT at all with what he said. Froch's message was "fcuk Calzaghe!! I've chased the fight and I've done what I can to get it on, but Joe clearly doesn't want it, so I'll move on with my career"

I'm glad to see him go though I have to admit his fights with Lacy and Kessler are some of the best moments I've witnessed in British boxing.

However, some of the guys that Joe didn't fihgt - like Taylor and Pavlik - are actually interested in fighting Froch, and I think this is absolutely brilliant coming off that excellent Froch-Pascal fight (a fight that ranks above Calzaghe-Eubank for me).

Also, the German market looks interesting. Every German based fighter in the top 30 seems to be getting some kind of title shot (Haussler, Sartison) or title elim at 168 (Stieglitz, Murat) and the best German of all round these weights is Abraham. This will come to Froch soon and if it helps bring Froch-Abraham closer...to me, that is THE fight.

Froch handles himself so much better in front of the cameras when talking than Joe, and with his warrior approahc, I'm ready to enjoyn his title run. It'll be an honest, competitive one, as long as it lasts!

Pavlik is not interested in fighting Froch. After losing to Hopkins, Pavlik will not fight above middle for years. Another example of a story being invented to try and boost Froch's standing in the US. Also Abraham is not interested in moving up in weight. He is a small middle and Sauerland has categorically said he wants to clean up at middle. He wants Pavlik and Sturm but is quite happy cleaning up on easy defences in the meantime.

Froch is just getting some comeback for putting down Calzaghe over the years. Froch has always come across as too arrogant, right back to the BBC das when Bunce used to call him "the best prospect in world boxing". Then he throws his toys out of the pram. Hennessy doesn't have £5m to give Calzaghe. Where would that come from, ITV? That offer was a total joke and purely based on what he believes HBO would pay for a Calzaghe fight. HBO aren't going to pay Froch anything unless it is for the guy in the other corner.

It was one of the top men at Top Rank promotions that said that they were interested in a Pavlik-Froch fight, so it's not been 'invented'. The interview was on Bunceys Boxing Hour.

The facts are, there is a £5m offer on the table to Calzaghe to fight Froch in Cardiff and Joe won't accept it. Surely the contract that Joe would sign with Hennessy would guarentee he gets his £5m, wherever it comes from.

You sound like a typical Calzaghe fan, you can think of numerous reasons for NOT fighting. Joes got and allegedly were a matchmade in heaven and Calzaghe has Franks matchmaking blood running trough his veins.

Other than a light kd, Hopkins did nothing but cry foul, foul himself and hold. He lost widely. Froch also said Lacy would KO Joe at the time that was hyped In a boxing monthly Interview which has pics of him hitting a bag and posing. He's bullshitting In hopes he can get a Calzaghe fight.

The Roy KD was a clear accidental forearm as well shown on the replay.

Calzaghe wouldn't cleanly KO Froch but he could get a TKO If the ref shows Froch mercy and stops It when Joe's overwhelming him with workrate and volume.
Let us not get carried away, this forum collectively shot a load in its pants when Witter won the WBC, where did that get him?
Good point, Witter became even more Inactive since he won that title too yet Hennessey was still mouthing off because of his big ego.

I think Taylor will win, he looked negative at Middleweight but gotten less negative at 12 stone.
Good post lad.

Whilst i'm not sure Calzaghe would knock CF out, he would batter him over 12 rounds. Froch was tired after round 3 last week, Calzaghe's work rate and pressure would be too much for Froch.

Calzaghe is right, Froch has nothing to offer. He's moved onwards and upwards literally - i would actually like to see the fight happen because i know that JC's record will still be in tact. Absolutely no doubts whatsoever, but why should he ? He doesn't bering "big name status" and tehrefore money, he brings a world title Joe has vacted. There'll always be another Froch coming through but Joe's been there probably too many times.

If JC beats him, then everyone will say he's not a big name, he can't win either way..................................

Except he can, he's won 46-0 !

eff off Froch you big mouth shithouse.
The only people who are hyping Froch so highly Is the Boxrec British forum, the rest say he's euro level and decent which I agree with.

Froch has been mouthing off about Joe since he beat Hague and he's been offered the fight and turned It down.

Hennessey hasn't proved he can afford a big purse as high as 5 million, he's too small time.

Gobbles, Arthur Abraham is not a "small middleweight".

The man is badly drained as a middle. If he wasn't IBF champ, he'd have moved up already. He has been struggling since the Gevor fight to make 160. Granted, he is a fairly shor,t stocky bloke, but that doesn't mean he's "small" at the weight.

He fought up at 166 or 164 pounds this year and wrecked Miranda, showing even greater power. You think he's not bound for super middle? You really think that? Sauerland already has Stieglitz and Murat lined up, but they will fail and he'll bring in his big gun, AA.

What do you do if you're a champ who has hell making the weight? You use your status, and your big promoter who has promoted more super middle world title fights than anyone else, to get a title shot. It might not be Froch he guns for, but then again depending on what Froch does next year, it might be.

Let's see what happens with Pavlik. Pavlik can KO SMALL MIDDLES (former light middles Rubio, Ornelas, whoever) but the onus is on him to do something a bit more interesting to build him back up again.

Joes got and allegedly allegedly were a matchmade in heaven and Calzaghe has Franks matchmaking blood running trough his veins.
It is not a fact that there is a £5m offer from Hennessy on the table. Hennessy asked a couple of "on side" journalists during a free press trip to Ireland to print that to try and create a story about Froch that national papers would publish. Because if a journalist goes to his sports editor and says, I've got a story about Carl Froch in training for his upcoming fight with Jean Pascal, the sports editor says 'Who cares?'

Why wasn't Nottingham Arena even open to its full capacity?

Bunce has been pushing Froch since last week. He said something on the radio like it was the most exciting fight ever! Typical chat from boxing's John McCririck. DuBoef was over in England so is happy to play along.

Pavlik is next going to fight Rubio. After that, if the Abraham fight does not come off, they are going to go for someone like Winky Wright or Vernon Forrest, a name but no great threat.

If Froch was someone any American promoter was interested in, why were none represented in Nottingham last Saturday? Top Rank never sent anyone, Lou DiBella did not turn up. The only reason DiBella is talking about that fight now is thay saw that Froch was so easy to catch.

Abraham is a small middleweight. He's about 4 inches shorter than Pavlik. When he has trained properly, he has never struggled with the weight.

If I sound like a "typical Calzaghe fan", you sound like a gullible fool.

Abraham can barely fight a minute per round at middleweight. 2 fights ago he fought at super middleweight producing his best performance to date

etc etc

sigh

OK, if that's the truth. Why then didn't Bunce ask Kalle Sauerland about Abraham v Froch when he was on the same show as DuBoef announcing a deal with Setanta?

When he fought Miranda, it was Miranda who asked for an overweight match. When Sauerland was asked about a Calzaghe -Abraham fight a year ago, he said no way, he's a middleweight

Edit - forgot to mention Pavlik v Duddy - that's a cert for 2009

Fair enough. I just think if Abraham doesn't move up after another fight or 2, it will have an adverse effect on his boxing, could lead to a loss, and dent his marketability. This guy made himself sick making weight and had to reschedule a routine mandatory vs Marquez. Already a Sturm fight has been written off, which is a shame.

Likewise, there is very little for Pavlik at 160. He does need an easy KO or to, to build the confidence and get ppl watching again (meanwhile Froch has a mandatory, so if there were any talks they can only go so far). However there seems to be nothing at middle if Abraham fight can't be made. All the good middles are prospects or fringe contenders at the moment. Reckon Pavlik moves up to reinstate himself, and if an exciting, marketable guy like Froch has a super middle title it could happen.

While some may be tempted to fight Froch due to his open defence, I don't think that is an easy style to go up against due to Froch's apparent durabiity, his persistence/abiity to rally, his long reach and his powerful punch. Just look at Tomasz Adamek, another slugger who fights with his chin up, with wins over Cunningham, Bell, Paul Briggs twice, and dropped Chad Dawson in a defeat. Adamek looks easy to hit, but the problem is he storms back with fierce rallies.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Pavlik and Abraham in the next few months. Time will prove one of us right! I know I'd rather see Abraham move up, than have Murat (WBC), Steiglitz (WBC), Tsypko (IBF), Larsen (IBF), Perdomo (WBA) and co keep on being pushed into super middle championship fights, added to the list of recent victims in title fights/elims ala Haussler, Sartison, Stieglitz (stopped by Andrade), etc etc. If those that are Sauerland fighters all fail, and AA has more weight issues at 160, I wouldn't be surprised...

If Calzaghe doesn't deem Froch and Dawson good enough to fight him (even though ancient RJJ's and Nard were  ), then he has to retire IMO as there aren't any more deserving than those 2 IMO, but in saying that Calzaghe has had a tendency to avoid meanigful fights and deserving fighters, so I expect them to dig Glen Johnson up for JC's finale.

Whether Joe 'mans up' or not is irrespective as Carls career will go from strength to strength either way, but yet again British Boxing misses out on a Great fight due to 1 fighters reluctance to get in the ring and test himself against the best from his homeland. As Nigel Benn said "They just don't want to fight each other any more" (never a truer word spoke)

Thank god for the new breed of UK Boxing stars in Haye and Froch who are willing to fight anybody, anywhere, anytime. It's a trait that has been sorely missed in the UK scene over recent times. No matter what Haye and Froch go onto achieve I'm sure both will gain more respect from the knowledgable than the likes of Joe and Ricky ever will
