NEW BOXING BOOK ON BUD TAYLOR

Post by enrique »

The first bio on Bud Taylor has just been published. I ordered a copy and I think it's a good buy for collectors and historians. Check it out:

Thanks for the mention, Enrique. I am the author. Briefly, the book is 332 pages long, a boxing bio of Taylor with emphasis on his ring years in the 1920s. I'm a newspaper copy editor from Taylor's home city and I worked on this book on my own for four years, interviewing dozens of 80-and-overs and scanning newspaper microfilm readers in libraries from L.A. to Philly.
I welcome any questions or comments about Taylor.

I ordered the Taylor book a couple of weeks ago, should arrive soon.
I'm not too familiar with Taylor's career, so it's is a book I expect will be very interesting.

I ordered two copies -one for a xmas gift- through Barnes and Noble and got it in less than a week.

The book is very well researched and I highly recommend it.

Even better than I thought. The book has footnotes on fights, weights and venues and we will be able to add to Taylor's existing record.

Great to see a book written on a fighter such as Tyalor... is it possible to buy it through amazon?... what is the price of the book?... all the best with its sales I think it is one which those who are interested in fighters of the past will love to get their hands upon... :box: :box: :box:

Yes, the book is available on Amazon. The book was fun to research, especially since I found no shortage of publicity about Taylor. In boxing's 1920s heyday, sportswriters saturated the newspapers and magazines with fight stories and features. The trick was in organizing it all and deluding these hundreds (a thousand, I'd say) of clippings into the highlights (and lowlights) of his career, and in separating hype from truth.
