Joe Calzaghe has been ruled out of his IBF light-heavyweight challenge on Saturday against Glencoffe Johnson with a back injury.

However promoter allegedly is confident of rearranging the fight, and will talk with Johnson's handler Dan Goosen on Monday.

WBO super-middleweight champion Calzaghe was due to fight Johnson at the MEN Arena, headling with Ricky Hatton, on June 12.

But he has been suffering with a bad back for some time, and it has failed to respond to treatment.

"Joe has been seeing a top specialist in London, but is unable to risk not being 100% fit for such a big fight," said Warren.

And he dismissed concerns over Calzaghe's mental well-being following a number of tabloid newspaper reports on the state of his marriage.

"Joe has a number of things going on his private life at the moment, but he was fully focussed on the fight," confirmed Warren.

"As for the next step, I will begin negotiations with Goosen tomorrow, and we will reschedule the fight."

Warren is also hoping to add another fight to Saturday night's card tomorrow.

WBU light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton will still tackle Carlos Wilches on the top of the bill.

Twenty years ago, no fighter would have turned down such an opportunity. But with all these joke world titles nowadays, fighters know they can be brought back for some form of a world title.
Sad day.

Spot on, why should Glencoffe wait around for Calzaghe..who`s the champion here.
If I were him I`d look elsewhere to cash in on the title, he does not have time on his side to get messed about.

If I were Johnson I'd be going after Tarver. Stuff Calzaghe. I'm also sceptical about this bad back business. They should also pull this card, it sounds rubbish now.

All the noise about this back business makes it sound like a bad injury, which should be rested for quite a while and then rehabilitated. Could put him out for six months. If I were Johnson I'd sack this one off and chase money somewhere else.

Sounds to me like Calzaghe is just not up for the fight, too much going on in his nut....it's Johnson I feel for.
