new Southern Area 10st Champ (spoiler)

Post by Des1 »

This mans grit and determination is an inspiration, he is a lot better than what his record shows having before boxed good fighters at short notice and had his fair share of bad decisions againts him. Im sure Lee Purdy looked at his record and thought he was in for an easy nights work what with him being the unbeaten prospect and favourite to win. This fight just shows that less should be given on records when pre judging a fight, just as in the old days when champion fighters had a fair share of loses and not much was taken notice of their record. As I over heard someone say when so called 'journey man' Jimmy Vincent defeated prosect at the time Dave Walker, ....Records are for DJ's not fighters. Congrats Peter Mcdonagh, good to see your still believing in yourself, that shows great inner power.........The dreams not over yet! :box: Lee Purdy can also learn from this and come back a better fighter....if he choses to, just like many fighters who have suffered early career defeats but came back better and become Champ, just like Peter McDonagh.

YOu can say that again! He was great in there tonight, great value for money, offered real heart.

I didn't know were his career was going after his fight with Andrew Murray, but he pulled out all the stops tonight, Well done Peter

I've just twigged- he is the guy that Gomez had that very odd fight with- I didn't realise that was him until I checked his record just now.

Fantastic fight, great blend of styles, and the referee was hardly needed.

MacDonagh's tough career paid off for him last night. His experience proved the difference. Cracking fight. It's really encouraging to see ITV give these sort of fights live coverage :TU: . Apart from being a brilliant fight to watch, we need to see all the rounds so we can score it accurately. Nothing worse than a close fight and tv companies editing rounds out.

Now he's a champion I hope Peter is afforded the opportunity to defend his title. Surely some kind hearted promoter can do this? If it turns out to be anywhere near as good as his win over Purdy, the punters will leave happy.

I thought Macdonagh looked pretty weak for the first 3 rounds, but after that he just seemed to get stronger and stronger.

It was a cracking fight, on a cracking show. Image

My only disapointment was, getting their about 3 minutes after omearas fight finished, as thats who I went to support.

Thought Peter boxed a great fight and his one two was very very good. Well done to both lads on a great fight.
