I just spoke to Main Event. They are 95% taking the fight. Still haven't signed the contract and he said the time they have given him for the start of the card is 3.30am which is a concern.
He did however tell me to play the ad on the show tonight so we are going to push it.

i guess thats 630pm in switzerland though and surely the main event wouldnt start before 830pm local time which makes it 530am here.
might have to pull an all nighter.
i imagine the revenue from pubs and clubs would be pretty much non existent for this one, so not sure how main event think they can make a profit, i wonder what sort of deal they have done.

South Africa are getting coverage of this fight in English.
I am not sure why Main Event can not organise the same feed.

It is on Sentanta in the UK.
I wish they let Sentanta Australia show it.

Fair enough in this case, I can't see how they would make money from it..adamheight wrote:They don't wanna pay for itamwsnw wrote:Not telecast in Australia....Mainevent have state they cannot obtain an english telecast !!! I am sure the USA and UK are getting it in English.

Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
I emailed Setanta about why don't show the big fights down here and it's because they can't get the rights to them. Australia has only 1/3 of the population of the UK so I guess they can't afford to buy them and expect to make anything back, whereas the UK has a much bigger market and boxing's as big there as it is anywhere.Hurricane Hank wrote:It is on Sentanta in the UK.

It sucks how Main Event has a monopoly on the big events. And they charge ridiculous prices, like 50 bucks for farces like De La Hoya vs Pacquiao and Mundine fighting taxi drivers, and 30-40 bucks for most other fights.
Unless you're making a huge salary, most boxing fans can't afford to coff up that kind of cash for every big fight, especially after already paying 60-100 bucks/month for their Foxtel subscription. If everyone boycotts them then Setanta can maybe start making some inroads into getting exclusive rights on the big fights. But that won't happen, some people are addicted to buying overpriced fights. myself included (but that's changing now, these internet streams are a Godsend), And the stupid wrestling fans don't help either.
Just catch a stream if you really want to watch it. This fight has ripoff written all over it. A shot 46yo vs a slow as a molasse freak who shouldn't even be champ. 10 bucks is the most I'd pay for that.
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
Fighting pride, what streams do you use, pretty interested myself?
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
Just checked it's not on Setanta in the UK
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
Don't think it's televised in the UK
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
mainevent advised me that the USA and UK are getting it. They are both having english commentary. It is more the point that mainevent don't think they will get enough buys at that time of the morning. That is fair enough, but I get annoyed that once again Aussies are deprived of a world title fight...no matter who is fighting !! Anybody supply me with a stream....
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
nah its not on here in the uk dunno what the go is
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
OMG Holyfield was just robbed big time by far the worst thing iv ever seen in boxing
Re: Holyfield v Valuev on TV ???
i had holy winning clearly as well, it was a robbery
i dont like using the word robbery in boxing, but i think its appropriate here
