The scandal of K1...

"King" Arthur Williams, hammered in three rounds by David Haye on May 12 in Reading, was annihilated in 108 seconds by Alexy Ignashov in a K1 tournament in Japan on Saturday.
That means he was back in a ring just over three weeks after being stopped by Haye.

Not after being KOd, they're not. But I guess boxing KOs don't count in K1...

Ignashov is a pretty handy fella though, haven't seen his win over Carter Williams yet but it's an impressive result.

surprise surprise...
for those of you who havent seen Ignashov he is similar in frame to Vladimir Klitchko, although not as muscular.. he is 6'5 and 16 1/2 stone.

He has great hands not to mention deadly knees and legs.....

I am surprised Williams lasted this long.

Atleast Williams wouldnt have took a beating, just a quick smash

You cannot get back in the ring for 28 days in Britain after being Ko'd. Not sure about overseas.

Ignashov is an awesome fighter, one of the best around. A silly fight for Williams to take at all, let alone after being stopped by Haye 3 weeks ago.

K1 is great at top level..

Agreed, people keep slating K1, but no boxer has yet made a serious impact in the sport - they keep getting stopped/knocked out. The problem is that only "average" boxers are making the transition at the moment, and are getting hammered by the top K1 guys. It'd be interesting to see what would happen if a top boxer tried K1. Maybe someone like Vitaly who has full contact experience already. My bet though is that he'd still lose to most of the top K1 fighters.

I agree, he's a tough pup. He's got a face a bit like Andrezj Golota's. He's come on in the last couple of years too.

FACT OF THE DAY: A certain Matt Skelton decisioned this guy a few years back!

Like someone has just mentioned only the lower tier boxers have crossed over, if you are any good you can still earn good money in boxing...

Briggs battered someone pretty sharpish, but he's not fought anywhere near the top level. Apparently he's been training to give and take kicks for a while now. The biggest advantage he's going to have over all the kickboxers he faces, though, is punch power. If he alters his stance to throw kicks, he won't hit as hard. It might be interesting to see how he does.

dont get too excited about the Briggs victory.
The guy he fought, Tom Erikson, is actually a wrestler not a kickboxer.... Briggs could make an impact. he always was world class for 3 rounds.

Tom Erikson actually beat Matt Skelton in a MMA contest

Hasn't briggs been training a lot of Ju-Jitsu too, aswell as "stand-up" fighting? Is he just doing K1 or NHB?

apparently he has been training ground game for a couple of years now.... looked a bit too heavy when i saw him fight in K1....
