Anybody interested in fighters from this era and location? I'd really like to discuss it.

I'm thinking of Jose Manuel Ibar Urtain. He covered The Ring magazine with 30 straight KO's and won the European HWGT title eventually. His ambition to become another Pauolino Uzcudun was stopped by Henry Cooper though. He kept on strugglin, defended his spanish title, but was again stopped by Jean Pierre Coopman in another european title shot. However, he got spanish boxing in focus for a while.

Urtain certainly garnered attention in the early 70's. It's interesting that in the 1970's, Spain produced 5 world champions from 1971-1977,though only one in all the subsequent years(I think).Castanon was a solid 126 pound contender; Evangelista had some success too at the world class level. I would rank Carrasco as the best Spansh fighter ever. Never saw Galiana. Folledo's record is also very impressive.
