Well he's certainly quick and athletic for a #1 Strongman, but in his present condition he'd surely only be good for short burts of explosive power rather than a potential 36 minutes of endurance.

He'd certainly spice up the heavyweight division though, and he's still only what 27yrs old?

I can remember an interview with him at the 1st Worlds strongest man that he won. He used to box but he decided he didnt like getting hit so he took to strongman. He competed in Worlds Strongest man in 2000 and got to the final and did really well finishing 4th. The next year he wasnt there and I was thinking why the hell is he not here as I was backing him to win that year. He turned up at the next one in 2002 and then we found out why, he was involved in a car accident and someone was badly hurt, it was his fault and he went to prison. He decided to clean his act up and I got the impression he may well have been drinking when he had this accident as he said I decided to give up drinking and disco and just train for strongman. He won it that year and this last year as well and he is still young. He was 21 when he competed in 2000 so he would now be 23/24. Plenty o time to turn professional but I would expect he may have to lose some of that muscle to become successful as I would have thought it would slow him down quite a lot.

He would have to loose muscle mass, he's not actually very big (as in height) and we've got no idea whether he takes a good shot. No standing 8-count in the pros, remember. I think it might be a little soon to put the entire responsibility on the mans shoulders just yet.

Does it say that he was the Polish heavyweight champ? Because he'd probably be competing at cruiser in the pros unless he was a super-heavy in the amatuer game, just as David Haye is now.

Marius is only 6ft tall but as a strongman weighs over 300lbs. Can't quite believe he ever campaigned at the cruiserweight equivalent.

No, when I last saw him he was around 275 lbs, still quite big but smallish for a WSM competitior. He is absolutely ripped at that weight, though - steroids or not, he is incredibly fit. (I figure all the WSM competitors juice, so in that sense it's a level playing field.)

I'd say his real talents are as a strength athlete. It's hard to argue with success, innit?

I'm sure when I watched him on Eurosport around christmas time they said he was 315lbs. Either way he's a phenomenon.

Mariusz competes at just a nads under 20 stone. He's had almost as much juice go through his system as the filler lines at Robertson's, but you've still go to respect his achievements.

All the guys in WSM are on the gear, but so what? Everybody knows it and they don't really try and pretend otherwise.

If he cleaned up for boxing, he's shed masses of weight and wouldn't be half as impressive. Even as he stands I'd put strong money on him getting one rounded off most half handy domestic heavyweights.

A good example of the rapid weight loss these guys suffer when they stop eating horse portions and juicing is Manfred Hoerbal, he was the man with the worlds biggest arms. He had a car crash, and in a matter of a few weeks he'd lost a good few stone!

I heard he was around 8 per cent body fat. That's freaky low.

Pudzianowski coming to boxing would make boxing into a circus, if it isn't already. Leave him to K1. Or WSM, because he could be a great there if his heart doesn't give way by the time he's 30.

That size at 26 ish, they're taking the p1ss if they think anyone's taking them seriously as a clean sport. Fair play to him, though, he's done his time in the gym and eaten his chickens. He's probably also shrunk his pecker, made himself go bald and shortened his life by 40 years. If only I died 40 years early, I'd have an excuse.

8% isnt freakily low I had a test for that in my end of season fitness tests and Im 7% at 14stone2. Iv been drug tested as well so I dont think u need to use them to get ur body fat that low. A lot of people look at these men who compete in strongman and immediately say 'ah steroids' but I think they actually get regualarly drug tested. There are tell tail signs as well that you can actually see like a stomach that is muscular (6pac) but actually sticks out further than the chest when tensed up (roid belly.) Also what appears to be breast tissue that develops over the chest muscle itself (b1ch tits) is another symptom of some steroids. We are all told to watch out for this among each other to try and cut down on drug use. I aint seen any evidence of this among the WSM comprtitors so there must be some kind of undetectable steroid if these guys are using them.

The guy is an absolute freak and clearly on enhancers. I have followed strong man almost religiously since the glory days of Jeff Capes, John Paul Sigmansson and Jaime Reeves - however, this guy is a little too dominant.

As for 8% body fat that is low, not freakily low but alot lower then average. Although body fat percentages can be all innacurate - my mate (who runs for Wales) has a body fat percentage of 2% (he's perfectly healthy) yet, the scientist who test him do question their own procedure, because people alledgely cannot live with the a percentage less than 3.

James, whats your height? and what is your body shape? I don't know many people over 14 stone with a body fat percentage that low. My initial reaction is to question the testing procedure to be honest. Because there are many flaws, from the equipment, the calculations and the technique used (if you use Skinfold Callipers).

Your obviously and athlete of some calibre to have end of season fitness tests that encourporate Body Fat %. If you don't mind me asking, what sport and at what level?

Mate, I'm a huge strongman fan. You don't need to tell me he's huge now. But he's always announced as a former Polish heavyweight champ (> 80Kg or something like?) rather than him campaigning as a super-heavy (>90Kg I think). Now, that's probably because the annoying numpty who presents it on Eurosport knows absolutely diddly about boxing, but it could mean that a guy who is just a little over 6' has an ideal fighting weight of about 13-14 stones. I dunno how successful he'd have been as a boxer if his build even remotely resembled a power athlete.

Yes easily.

Gargantuan bodybuilders can't box for toffee, it doesn't matter a jot if he was half decent as a teenager at 13 stone odd, he's a different man now. Have faith in the art of boxing.

James,
They are all juiced up, and if you believe otherwise you're being plain daft. Just appreciate them for what they are. Practically all top Weightlifters/powerlifters/strongmen cycle on gear. Apart from the weightlifters they don't make much of an effort to hide it. Why do you think powerlifting has "Natural World Records" aswell as the "World Records"?

I play Rugby for my Uni, we got to the semi finals of the National Championship where we lost to Exeter. I aint too sure about my height I think Im 6'2" but others think Im 6foot even, Ill have to measure my height when I get back home. I aint freakishly large compared with a lot of the other players in the team and also I look tiny when stood next to Mike Tindall who plays for Bath and England and trains in the same gym as me. My shape is pretty muscular, I have a 44inch Chest and a 34inch waist so there is a pretty decent taper there. I went to school in Wales (Aberaeron which is near Aberystwyth) and I know a few mates who have run for Wales. Andreas Jones who ran in the Sydney Olympics comes to the Swimming Pool I work at back home and I have 2 mates who are at Uni in Cardiff right now who have run for Wales. I dont want anyone to think Im some kind of a big headed show off sayng all this I couldnt care less if people believe me or not, at the end of the day there aint no way of proving anything other than checking that Bath got to the Semis of the national Uni Chapionships and lost to Exeter.

On the steroids note I didnt understand that there were natural records and records, but I always thought that WSM had steroids testing.

James you're right to think they have testing, because they do mention 'testing' from time to time. But it is 'token testing' to give themselves a bit more credibility.

Also, in the case of Mariusz (and many others in a lot of sports - including your own (rugby)) sadly I will allege that HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is being used more and more.

AT THE MOMENT IT CANNOT BE DETECTED IN DRUGS TESTS!!

HGH has a very strong anabolic effect, it not only causes muscular hypertrophy but also muscular hyperplasia ( increased number of muscle cells) while anabolic steroids only cause muscular hypertrophy. HGH also influences burning of fat, strengthens the connective tissue ( tendons and cartilage ) and greatly increases strength. Gains made on HGH cycle remain after the drug has been discontinued.

It's sad but true I'm afraid. As they're reading out the start list for the 100m final in Greece my opinion will be that every single one of them has taken HGH.
