Its important to maintain your spiritual compass in these pressing times Glyn. I dread to think what you'll be up to to avoid the My Family Christmas Special this year?
Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
well he sold out a stadium, not sure of the exact capacity, in a day fighting Steve Forbes in a fight "marketed" as a tune up.
I don't know my American stadiums, but I am sure Tito vs DLH would sell out most venues in the states or PR. I reckon GBP were a tad dissapointed that they didn't find a bigger stadium for the Forbes fight.

So you're now proclaiming to be Jesus and Lazarus, now trying to perform two roles in the same parable is the cause for many ills. Just look at people who are allowed to be promoters AND managers.Glyn Leach wrote:I have been known to rise again after a heavy afternoon ...Terry D wrote:Nailed (=pissed in these parts), bloodied and just hanging on until Easter?Glyn Leach wrote:I did David - trying to encourage a Christ-like image, I was
Keep fighting the good fight though!
And Stu - what stadium did you have him selling our versus Forbes? Subbuteo stadiums don't count.

DLH needs the right opponent to sell 20,000 plus tickets.
Hatton could fight Witter who wouldn't sell 7 tickets and get 50,000 at Man City.

True Tel.
I'd like to see Robert Powell back on the cross for his potrayal of hospital orderly in Holby City.
And I dont watch it. I'm to busy doing manly stuff like eating wotsits and drinking Guiness.
I'm sure my turds glow in the dark.

Agree on Hatton, as Lazcano showed - I think Hatton could have sold out maine road with his WBU belt - no disputing his fans are not loyal.DavidPayne wrote:DLH needs the right opponent to sell 20,000 plus tickets.

But DLH sold out the home of the LA Galaxy, subuteo stadium or not, it hold 30,000 I think vs Steve Forbes without much of a problem. Is Steve Forbes the right opponent?

Mmmm. Good response, I genuinely dont know what Oscar sold for Forbes. I'd be interested to know how many tickets were SOLD though.

Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
Stu it was the Home Depot Stadium, where Beckham's alleged football team plays, and it wasn't even half full. Mosley-Mayorga took place there too, it's a piddly little place - but guess what, GBP has a business link to it, as it does every o2 arena around the world. The most Oscar has ever pulled was in El Paso, against Patrick Charpentier 10 years ago, around 30,000 - it was full of squealing Mexican girls from across the border.
So you believe Oscar-Tito would draw 70,000? Get real. The only option for a 70,000 crowd, which is what you were asked about when you started waffling about Steve Forbes (pmsl), is Hatton in Britain.

Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
No attendance figures for Forbes that I can find anywhere on the internet, which suggests to me the obvious (shite attendance), but Home Depot only has a 27,000 capacity and it was nowhere near full
Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
Well I am only going on the figures that were said on Sky etc - venue was full, fight sold out in a day over 30, 000.Glyn Leach wrote:Stu it was the Home Depot Stadium, where Beckham's alleged football team plays, and it wasn't even half full. Yes, I started waffling about Forbes only cause it appears that you think Oscar needs Ricky to sell a big venue - yes, massive difference between the alledged 30+K and 70K that Wembley can fill, but massive difference between Steve Forbes in a tune up, and "redemption, 10 years in the waiting" angle that Tito would bring. I would also think that "real Mexican" vs "phoney Mexican" angle for Margarito vs Oscar would do massive business in el paso - but Oscar won't touch that one, no chance.
Tito is a massive PPV attraction in his own right, and if Oscar vs Charpentier can 30,000 then it sort of highlights the point that Oscar vs anyone can get 30K and Oscar vs a star can get alot more... and Tito is still a star. It was more down to Tito than Roy, that HBO put that farce as a PPV.

I dunno Stu, it's good fun, isn't it. Notice how quick Shafter has moved now that PBF has expressed an interest? Doesn't matter what he agrees with the Hattons, it's what Floyd and Arum agree that countsstujones wrote:Anyway, all this debating sounds like it is for nothing anyway.

Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
Yep, it is always a pleasure to discuss things with a top scribe as yourself, and brilliant the Graham also defended his article, with such grace as I would expect.
As for my views on whether DLH vs Tito 2 could manage 70K - well it would depend on the venue and how it is marketed. I am not suggesting it would do it in a day (like DLH vs Hatton would, or Hatton vs Peter Buckley would) - but I think with the right marketing strategy and these 6 month tours etc promoting it, then it would do very well.
If DLH vs Forbes sold 30K in a day, and this is what Sky did claim - then I think Tito vs DLH would do ALOT better than that, 40K better? Well I am no Duncan Banatime... alot would depend on how much the Pacman loss has affected the DLH's marketabilty, defeats in the past haven't really affected it, but this time he left the ring to one or two boos. Similarly with Tito, who is a big PPV seller in his own right - how many times can he be repackaged before fans having enough.
I think with the right venue, maybe in Peuto Rico, maybe El Paso (stirring the old nationalities angle) and if somehow Tito is considered a threat (maybe via a tune up against a tailor made opponent) then yes, it could fill a huge stadium. Tito vs DLH would not sell any stadium out, eg having that in the millenium stadium and you would struggle to get 10K - but the right stadium it could.

Graham is class mate, always, pleasure to work with him.
And much as I'd love to see Pacman-PBF, Pacman-Hatton has ever greater appeal - I think Ricky wins that.

Think Pacquaio will have too much for him and possibly even stop him late. The only guy I can se beating him between lightweight and welter is Floyd, if he ever comes back.
Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
I've heard HBO want Floyd to have a tune up fight first.
Re: Boxing Monthly DLH article.
Mouthwatering fights the lot of them, well excluding DLH.
Still like to see Marquez in the equation also.

All exact.stujones wrote: "Chickens come home to roost"
The picture claims that the likes of Hernandez, Leija, and Molina were not just outweighed but faded when DLH fought them. I disagree that they were faded, but were outsized.
DLH had them at the right time.
This is the guy who REFUSED to rematch Quartey because in his own words 'no one wants to see a rematch' ?!!
Chavez was past it etc etc.
DLH good fighter but carefully matched.
He did not go out on his shield against Pac Man or Hopkins.
