Vitali/Gomez v Maskaev...what about Haye???
OOH, it appears that Maskaev is due to get the first shot at the winner!! This is due to Maskaevs complaints from when he was champ(purse split, Peter being named interim champ)
How does this affect Haye?...I cant think he will be happy and the June date seems dead in the water....

Vitali and Haye said that their fight will go ahead with or without the WBC, "the fight is bigger than the belt"

The big test for these words is when Vitali fights Gomez...I dpubt the WBC will sanction this fight if they know Vitali is gonna dump the belt in the post fight interview...
Im not so sure Vitali beats Gomez anyway...there is a long way to go before this happens

Will Vitali fight Gomez though? or will he go straight into the Haye fight?thepocketrocket wrote:The big test for these words is when Vitali fights Gomez...I dpubt the WBC will sanction this fight if they know Vitali is gonna dump the belt in the post fight interview...

I'll be gutted if Haye-Vitali doesn't happen next summer, but it seems pretty concrete to me
Re: Vitali/Gomez v Maskaev...what about Haye???
I hope Haye fights someone in early March before Klitschko, thus allowing Vitali to take care of Gomez. I am a little bit apprehensive about David going straight into the Vitali fight without a warm-up but it's academic because Haye's knocking him.

Vitali won't fight Gomez though. His next fight will be against Haye in June. Vitali and Gomex will never get together because the Klitschkos refuse to do any kind of business with Ahmet Oener. That fight won't ever happen. Expect to see Vitali/Haye for the full WBC title with perhaps Gomez/Maskaev for some kind of interim type thing. If not, then Vitali/Haye will just go ahead without the WBC title and some other belt will probably be thrown on the table.thepocketrocket wrote:The big test for these words is when Vitali fights Gomez...I dpubt the WBC will sanction this fight if they know Vitali is gonna dump the belt in the post fight interview...

Beats me how they need to wait 6-7 months before fights these days. Why not April??

Obviously the WBC like to keep Vitali happy, and will listen to any special requests he has to fit in a quick knockout of DHaye.
But having bent over backwards for him recently, giving him a straight shot at his old title, they will want to be seen to force him to make a mandatory asap. It looks bad otherwise.
Gomez, then Haye...or maybe there's enough cash around to keep everyone happy.

id sooner see haye fight wlad beacuse he struggles with fast fighters, id defo ack haye to beat wlad but not vitali
Re: Vitali/Gomez v Maskaev...what about Haye???
Very true, the belt ain't worth a piss, any organisation which allows a champ who retired 4 years earlier doesn't deserve to be taken seriously.Chambers2 wrote:Vitali and Haye said that their fight will go ahead with or without the WBC, "the fight is bigger than the belt"

I agree, the only thing I can think of is waiting for the football season to finish for a stadium date :??nickd wrote:Beats me how they need to wait 6-7 months before fights these days. Why not April??
Re: Vitali/Gomez v Maskaev...what about Haye???
Suppose if Haye wins he can always claim to beat the last 'MAN' of the division which was Vitali, than as people are saying the green belt wouldnt mean much.
Re: Vitali/Gomez v Maskaev...what about Haye???
Is this really a stadium fight though? I don't think Haye is that well known to fill a stadium as yet.My T Sharp wrote:I agree, the only thing I can think of is waiting for the football season to finish for a stadium date :??nickd wrote:Beats me how they need to wait 6-7 months before fights these days. Did the Barrett fight sell out the O2?

As it stands I don't think it is, if a stadium is looking at say 40,000+.nickd wrote:Is this really a stadium fight though? However if its in London, with enough support and promotion behind it they may get between 20,000-40,000??
edit: just found a report that said 5,000 at the O2 for the Barrett fight

i think haye valuev is a better option for haye, the old david and goliath thing.
lets face it, the klitschkos will probably stop haye, both of them. much as i love haye im being realistic. i give haye a punchers chance against wladimir but vitali can take and give. peter had a punchers chance....as did a few others.
