I thought Pipers criticism of Mirovic was outrageous... the guy had done well to survive the 1st and I always respect any fighter who quits...... peopel like Benn, and Alexis Arguello have quitc in fights....... Mirovic came here and gave it a go, why should he have to get knocked out?.
And I didn't think Mirovic was in such bad shape, after all Skeldon was out of breath too..... Nickys snide 'heart attack' joke just about sums him up!.

Extremely poor showing by the referee. Noodles from my Chinese dinner drooled from my mouth as I watched in disbelief when the knockdown wasn't called. Grade F night for Terry O'Connor. It was similar to John Keane (who has ref'd some big fights in the USA) in the Vincent - Barnes robbery, though I have to say I wasn't too bothered with Dave Parris in the Williams - Sprott fight, as Williams was really irritating me in that fight, as he was Dave.

I had the fight for Vanzie by two rounds, so although it was bad, i don't see it as one of the worst decisions ever. However, the bias for the home fighter has got to stop. Because i had it close, i knew who's hand would be raised at the end. What is the point of watching fights if you already know who'll get the nod if it's fairly close?

It would have been far more interesting to see Nelson or Collins doing Piper's job last night. At least they are willing to call a spade a spade. It also strikes me as a bit of a conflict of interests with Piper, how can he give a fair and unbiased view on the way a fight is refereed and scored if he works for the board?

I see Iain at allegedly.tv had it 7 points ahead to Vanzie. I've got to watch a copy!

It was a close fight but Vanzie won it for me, that was a legit knockdown in the 4th although I don't think Earl was really hurt.

I'm not a fan of Vanzies but I did feel sorry for him last night, as already mentioned he will likely get a slap on the wrists from the BBBC for his comments in the post fight interview, just to make his weekend complete.

Same here, but that was without scoring the knockdown, so it would've been 3 rounds. That makes it quite a swing. The ref had a great view of the knockdown, and still didn't score it, so if he isn't corrupt he's incompetant. Any wonder why Vanzie is upset? Ah well, at least we can console ourselves with the fact that, seeing as boxing is now a minority sport, not too many people saw that shit. :(

Yes I did notice that Silkov, and to be honest it disgusted me I felt Piper once again acted in a very unprofessional manner. It makes me think that maybe a representative of the BBBofC should not be 'commontating' on fights for TV, it just doesn't sit right with me.

As for his comments about Mirovic, a bit harsh don't you think? the guy had given it a good go and took a lot of heavy, hurtfull shots and aint no 20 year old hungry prospect. What did Piper want? Maybe he just gets a kick out of seeing brutal KO's now that he don't have to take punches anymore.

What Piper needs to do is to use some of his famed high IQ and buy a few books and video's of Boxing. He will then learn not all fighters have the never say die atitude of say a Hagler, Frazier or Holyfield. Many many fighters have 'quit' during a fight for various reasons, the list would be a long one and many of them were BETTER FIGHTERS THAN PIPER.

I used to quite like Piper when he first started working on SKY but over the last 12 months or so he's started to get on my nerves somewhat.

Just because we've seen even worse decisions than that it doesn't make it acceptable. This whole "ref scores the fight" idea needs some serious attention.

I hope Bobby walks away from this "business" for good and finds something more rewarding to put his efforts into.

The fight was reasonably close but Earl is seriously limited, i mean come on how slow is he?! He lurches in and looks really one paced...he was found his level. I though Vanzie won a tight decision and the ref's scoring was interesting in various rounds to say the least. However the SKY team really annoy me, Smith tries to whip up none existant drama from every move and McCrory seriously talks bollocks...REMOVE HIM IMMEDIATELY. He is inept and rightfully demoted from the big fights in favour of the better Jim Watt.

i must be getitng less surprised by these results as I just shrugged them off when others round mine at the time were going mad.
