Arum said last week that he had Atlantic City on hold, but was hoping to shift to MSG.

I'm getting deja vu chris ;;-)

Setanta still think it's AC, but I keep hearing it's gonna be MSG because it's now a split event with Pavlik and PR tickets sell by the shed loads at MSG. What US channel this turns up on may dictate where it is n the end.

Seriously worried about this fight - perhaps I have too high opinion of Cotto - but if Jennings somehow pulls this off it would have to be the biggest sensation and shock in a boxing ring involving a British fighter.

Am I being too hard on Jennings??

Good luck to him for getting the pay day - brilliant news - but that is as far as my enthusiasm goes for this fight.

I think you are. There's no better European Welter in my eyes, and plenty of quality fighters have gone to bits after one loss.

Hope you are right mate!!!

But in Cotto you are dealing with one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world - when has anyone mentioned Mike Jennings being remotely world class? - thats not being disrespectful to the lad - its just he aint dealing with some fight who has scrapped by in world class !!!!

I agree Spud.

The Tijuana Tornado beat Cotto due to his immense size, strength and unrelenting presure, whereas Mike is a lovely boxer with skills I could watch all day.

The problem though, is that he won't be able to show Cotto anything he hasn't seen before - he just isn't good enough in any single department to give Cotto problems outside of the first few rounds.

His movememt and quick combos might keep him in the fight until around the halfway mark but he will be lucky if he sees round 7 in my eyes.

Still, I love seeing the best British fighters testing themselves against the world's elite - its what they all dream of as kids, surely?

Good luck to Mike, Brian and all the team and I would love to see him turn the trick but it is hard for me to see how he can do it I am afraid.

Still, it won't stop me cheering for The Lurcher though! :TU: :box:

I completely agree with the above - it would be truely fantastic - f*cking brilliant to be outrageously wrong again!!!

To see the smile on Brian Hughes face would be fantastic too!!!

For me the fight is over by the end of the 3rd round - If Mike goes beyond the halfway mark against a genuine world class P4P fighter then he can be justly proud of himself.

I don't mean to be an old stick in the mud here but I don't even think Jennings beats Brook. I really fear for Jennings' safety here, because I have a feeling that we'll see a very angry Cotto in the ring the night they fight. It's not going to be pleasant.

Put it this way, Davey Moore, David Reid and Jeff Lacy all lost convincingly, none were the same. I think after the crazy year of upsets, nothing is certin in boxing. :box:

Terry, downloaded one of your fights on WBVA. Ta very much!

The split cards are an HBO ppv.

But even a 50% version of Cotto would give Jennings nightmares. And I don't think Cotto was beat convincingly as well. I had him in front when the fight was stopped - I think he dominated Margarito up until Margo's pressure took over on the tired Cotto.

Kell Brook would beat Jennings IMO. And I believe this
fight will happen after Cotto. Noted boxing news only have
Jennings at no 5 in britian, n he's got a world title fight. I look
forward to Claude's assessment of this fight, he is in touch
with reality.

And whoever mentioned Kell Brook - here we go for a statement - stated to someone tonight he is my boxer to watch for 2009 - progressing nicely in my opinion after a difficult time - I remember him coming to a Carl Froch public work out even before he turned professional - I was told then that the kid had an amazing talent - now finally he is starting to prove he is going to trouble a lot of people.

But Back to Jennings - yep I believe Brook would beat him and do it well.

I like Jennings as a boxer - I just think if someone keeps on top of Brook and he keeps the discipline he will do very well for himself.

Jennings is a good fighter.

I think he will last the distance and frustrate Cotto for loon periods.

I do not hink he will win- but he will be ok.

He's got the hunger and ambition, but not the world class talent, it's like a peak Thierry Henry compared with a peak Jason Roberts

If it's on Top Rank then it's on Setanta, or is that not right?

Correct. I've heard HBO and TR are not on the best of terms right now. They refused Coto v Karass, and screwed Margarine over for money on the Mosley purse bid.

I just hope Jennings puts on a good display, even if he loses but looks good & put on a good display then maybe he can get more big fights & paydays of the back of a loss (mind you would love him 2 win it, not a fan of Cotto personally).

I see Cotto having as much problems with Jennings as he did with Alfonso Gomez .. just this time I see Cotto looking for an early night.
I just don`t see what Jennings has that will cause Cotto problems, I`d like to be proved wrong .. just don`t see it :(

As said, it would be hard to call between Jennings and Kell Brook.
