Witter - Urkal?
I admit I am a Witter fan and thought the McDonnell interview on Maxboxing was actually well written even if there were a few mistakes.
If you watch the final Knockdown in slow motion ,Witter catches his opponent with a cuffing right hook at the top of the temple, you can clearly see his head jolt,(very similar to the way Esham pickering caught the Italian in his European title challenge in Bradord.)It was the second right hook that whizzed past Battaglias head that he appears to have gone down from that everyone is assuming was the slip and was counted for when in fact it wasnt that punch.Rewind the finish a few times and observe.
I do beleive Witter and Pickering are prime examples of fighters who were written off by their original promoters and have totally turned their careers around and done it the hard way.How FW and his Sports Network company must be kicking themselves after losing these two fighters!
I am sure Witter if given the chance would love to take on the Urkals and Harris's of this world after all he took on Judah when he was relatively inexperienced.

Well here goes.
Admittedly telling you to fornicate off was a bit urgent, I'll agree that was bad form, I was just exasperated by the comment that Tackie was 'fragile,' it just sounded so ridiculous when Tackie is obviously one of the toughest men in that division.
As for mistakes, every single writer makes mistakes, many of them far more than I do, in the heat of the moment watching a fight, it's not always easy to catch the correct punch, nitpick all you want mate, fact is I had to submit a quick article, and didn't have the priviledge of reviewing it on tape. In fact, the truth be told, I was well and truly pissed up when I watched it.
I didn't disrespect Brendan Ingles wife, I was having a pop at you giving it the charlie big potatoes, you seemed to infer that because you were 'behind the scenes' whatever that might mean, that you're somehow the fornicating guru of all knowledge. You were the one who tried to big yourself up, so I had a pop at you, because it sounded pompous to me.
If you want to know why I write for maxboxing, why don't you email them and ask them, all I know is that they were more than happy to have me come on board, and they seem very happy with my work, as do the people who email me on a regular basis. I'm not being big headed, and anyone here can testify that I seldom if ever mention the fact that I write for them.
You're knocking me for mistakes, well, If you're so bloody knowledgable you would know that Tackie had never been stopped in his entire career, so describing him as fragile seemed preposterous.
As for Witter, as I understand it, he's on a fight by fight agreement with Henessey, or Hennessey or however you bloody spell it, and isn't contracted for any length of time, at least that's what I was told by people who work with him.
The fact is, Witter WAS with Warren, and left, I believe his contract expired at the same time as he went to speak with Hennessey.
My point is, Witter looks good, but he hasn't PROVEN himself world class. If he beats Urkal and beats him convincingly, then I will
As J says, it's all well and good to criticise my articles, but the fact is, at least someone is prepared to publish my opinion, so no matter what you think, there are plenty of people who enjoy reading my column.
You will get more opportunities to read my work in Uppercut, I'll send you a copy so you can tell me how wank my writing is again.
As for having laced them up, not that old chestnut, I boxed at primary school, but if you are going to tell me that in order to write about boxing, you have to have been a fighter, then I have a one word answer to that.
bollocks..

Oh and come on, let's be fair, post Judah, only Lauri and Battaglia were really worthy opponents. It's clear if you look at the records of his other opponents that they simply weren't good enough to offer Witter a challenge.
The comments I make on here, and what I write are two different things, this is a free forum where I can express my views in what we could call a more 'freeform' and 'liberated' fashion. I never disrespect fighters in the pieces I write for maxboxing or elsewhere, and I have the utmost respect for anyone brave enough to be a professional fighter, and unless they do something pretty outrageous, I am far from critical.

I have to say having chatted to Mr Mcdonnell for some time he knows his stuff.
Buzz your "inside information" so far has yielded that Witter is second coming of Sugar ray & Hatton is crap, Ben Tackie is fragile and Clinton woods is on his way out despite the fact he has an IBF title shot lined up.
Some knowledge my friend. So.......
I ask myself who really is the wanker here.
