Alarming that everything is seemingly secure - I wonder if Banks will speak before this fight this time!!!!!!!!!!, I wonder if Manny Steward will say anything - like "my fighter is fighting for a world title".

But anyway, I digress, I mean alarming that everything is secure but the date. I am guess that Mr Warren is looking at things stateside to pitch an idea to Sky.

Although with Setanta seemingly tied up with HBO it will be hard, Darchinyan vs Arce (Showtime) only half decent, Saturday fight that is not on HBO.

Why not - I keep saying it mate - there are a lot of people still interested in Amir Khan - he is still a promoters dream!!!

As long as the punters keep paying to watch him whether it be at the venue or on TV then to the promoter and the TV company they are happy - that is why Khan will be very carefully matched indeed - whilst W arrens Olympic signings are finding their feet you will see Maccarinelli, Cook, Mitchell and even Skelton with Khan headlining things!!

I can understand Khan being PPV if you put him in with the division's best, but when he's building a career like he has been thus far, then Sky are simply trying to rob us. Get him in with Campbell and lets see if he sinks or swim - he has a decent chance vs Nate.

Dioufy its not that I am disagreeing with what you are saying mate - the "majority" of boxing fans with an ounce of knowledge have the opinion as soon as Khan steps up in class again he is going to get sparked - and what you are eluding to concerning Sky "robbing" the average punter - I am of the opinion they will not be silly enough to put Khan on as PPV - even supported by the whole of Sportsnetworks stars.

I think Khans next fight will be on the normal Sky Sports 1 channel and I also think it will be a horribly predictable opponent.

Yeah, there's been some shocking headliners under Franky's return to Sky already. Like you say, Cleverly was one but wasn't Don Broadhurst a main-event too, against a dodgy African? If Khan's on normal Sky next, then I will truly be shocked.

No, but they are all good enough (by current standards) to headline a show on their own (by Sports Notwork standards) with an undercard as weak as Aldis own brand lager. That said, I can't see this being Friday Fight Night, more a Saturday evening timeslot.

Actually, I'd be happy for these to come off as one-offs on normal Sky or Sentanta .

I think FW will give Khan some pretty safe opponents for the time being. Maybe a decent one for Nov/Dec. Cant see Khan/Murray comming off this year. As long as Khan is making FW good money they will avoid the risky matchups and spin it out as long as possible. Khan is obviously still wanting top billing and big paydays so PPV is virtually a certainty. I dont expect to see Khan in a really competetive fight until 2010 unless in the meantime he is stopped by an opponent who he is supposed to beat easily, then his career would be in tatters. I am pretty certain once Khan gets to Euro and fringe World class he will be stopped again.

Worrying for us punters is that it seems that this "khan has to be on PPV cause of his contract" is true and not only that, but Khan is fighting often - which means lots of PPV's.

Khan will not be on a normal friday fight night. I thought as much after the Prescott fight was a PPV, shabby undercard (by PPV standards) and no US bill to compliment.

Khan needs to fight often, but cannot be on PPV in this credit crunch period. Only hope his contract is short term and Warren can tell him to get knotted for the next deal.

I personally can't see it coming off ever unless these two guys hold two world titles simultaneously or change promotors. It's obvious Khan won't go down the British/European route just yet. And even if they do somewhere down the line become mandatories for eachother then Franky will pull Khan out, like he did when he was Thaxton's mandatory and Khan was Thaxton's - how they didn't meet is a travesty, and I'm sorry to say, but it's down to one man, Franky Warren. Murray's simple too dangerous for Khan anyways, especially at the moment, because Murray is tough and has nice skills (when he's up for a fight) and a bit off pop. To me, Khan gets knocked out late on.

Or ever- It seems like from the start they had Khan's career geared towards the "World Title" almost as if it was some kind of right. European maybe, but British title... I can't ever see that. Such a shame that British title fights seem to be degraded now.

I agree, it is a shame to see the British belt being treated like this. But that's Franky's way - commonwealth title, usually against some bum of an African, then the WBO intercontinental cobblers/WBU, and finally, a vacant shot at the WBO's 'full' title. Joke.

Not for ages, ocassionally when they have shown a European fight (e.g. mainly germany) or US stuff.

I cannot remember the last time a UK bill was shown on Saturday night on Sky without it being PPV - back in the old Saturday fight night days I guess.
