If James Earl Jones had not been availble to play Jack Johnson in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE.
A good replacent would have been Yaphet Kotto.

Fred Ward would have been a decent actor to play Oscar Bonavena(around 1980)

Good call on both men as Johnson. Whatever happened to Kotto? I've only ever known him as the fellow in the first Alien film.Brutu wrote:If James Earl Jones had not been availble to play Jack Johnson in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE.

HA! Good call! Yaphet Kotto replaced James Earl Jones as Jack Jefferson (Jack Johnson) in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE on Broadway.Brutu wrote:If James Earl Jones had not been availble to play Jack Johnson in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE.

Kaphet Kotto played Lt. Al Giardello in Homicide: Life on the Street during the 1990s. Hasn't done much since. I'm not sure why.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Good call on both men as Johnson.
