According to Boxing Confidential, Froch has asked the WBC to postpone the purse bid for his fight with Jermain Taylor because he will not be fit to box until June.

So much for the big win to put pressure on Calzaghe.

He certainly has his fair share of injuries, He has only had three fights in about two years. Lets hope he can cash in and have a couple of decent paydays this year

Bad news for Hennessy Sports - I was hoping to see Carl Froch in action again on mainstream ITV - he is a genuine world class boxer and I was hoping boxing would remain on one of the mainstream terrestrial channels - we will now have to wait until June.

True it could just be that Kessler is trying to jump the queue to Taylor, so spread rumours about Froch. It said in The Times this week that Froch would be back in April and that he had started back at the gym as his rib was now on the mend.

Not sure Kessler and Taylor are in any rush to fight each other. Kessler apparently wants to fight someone relatively known in America, like Allan Green, Bika. Taylor's only approved HBO opponent seems to be Kessler, but this may be a bit risky. Seems Kessler is having problems with his promoter also.

Froch should be in a decent position for good fights. He's surely the most US friendly champion with his aggressive style and the fact that he's English. Some good fighters on the up, Ward, Dirrell, Jacobs; some decent fringe contenders, Zuniga, Green, Bika; a former middle champ out there, Taylor.

Bika is known to have given calzaghe a torrid time, so Froch could use that angle.

And the fight could be a cracker, Bika won`t be dented at all by Froch`s punches and we`ll most likely have another war like carl gave us last time.

I could see Froch winning a close one against Bika, but against Taylor I see him being made to look foolish in much the same way Jones and Tarver did to Clinton Woods.

I think Taylor's a perfect fight for Froch. A tall puncher with stamina will trouble Taylor, as seen in the Pavlik fights.

If the money is right it doesn't take too long to negoitiate and if Froch has to go to America - it wont take 6 months to get there!!!

It happened 2 weeks before the fight against Luis Garcia, a sparring partner in Ireland.

He also had a cut with a stitch in it when he fought Pascal - although got cut in a different place during the fight.

Back on topic - no rumour in the rib keeping him out.

It was a secret in December obviously (although Pascal somehow knew and targeted it during their fight) but it's just bull on that boxing confidential anyway.

I think Bika is an awful match up.

He split Marcus Beyer's eye socket open with a headbutt.

He nearly shut Calzaghe's eye after repeatedly leaving his head in when he swung in his hooks. Calzaghe was pretty 'off' that night against the tough but unheralded Bika.

He was soundly outboxed by Lucian Bute over 12.

Give the guy a break. He is obviously not in a position to fight before June and he is right not to, if he doesn`t feel he will be 100%.

Put him against the mouth Mundine in June, spank him, them look to fight Kessler nearer to the mass of Christ.

I'd like to see Froch back in action during April, he really does need to step it up a gear while he has the momentum and try and fight more often.

I think Bika would be an horrendous match for Froch to take, I can't see that one being an option - He would muller Mundine in my opinion, but I read that Mundine has a lucrative fight with Danny Green on the horizon, so that looks unlikely.

That leaves Taylor as the most realistic option, and I think he would probably take Taylor out of his stride enough to grab a decision - It will be hard in the states though.

Aren't the purse bids due soon?

If Froch-Taylor goes to purse bids I'm presuming it's an enforced 70/30 split to the Champion??? if so that could cause BIG problems, lets hope something can get agreed beforehand

Froch-Taylor hopefully happens. It's not like Taylor has loads of options. Bute? Busy with 2 upcoming bouts, tainted by "win" over Andrade; Kessler? plans to fight an American fringe contender in America, having problem with promoter; Winky? already turned it down.

Froch is the best fight for the American audience. The Pascal fight has been shown in America, and it will be plain that he's the most exciting fight out there. If Taylor loses his HBO date, go to Showtime or wherever. (Is Taylor contracted to HBO?). Hopefully they can sort something out for later on this year.
