Froch is the best fight for the American audience. The Pascal fight has been shown in America, and it will be plain that he's the most exciting fight out there. If Taylor loses his HBO date, go to Showtime or wherever. (Is Taylor contracted to HBO?). Hopefully they can sort something out for later on this year.
No, pretty sure Froch-Pascal wasn't shown in the states. His previous fight was on Shobox but the timing didn't work for the Pascal fight.
yes Taylor is contracted to HBO.

Froch-Pascal was shown in the states a week or so after the event, I think it was repeated in the US as well, because it was such a great fight and because Froch is so mutherfcuking Great!

If Froch's mandatory can't fight without HBO, the mandatory can give up his shot and someone else can get it.

Murat or Stieglitz aren't terrible fights for a first defence.

How about Inkin? He's lost his world title, could come back, fight some kind of WBC International/Interim/Bullshit fight, "ean" a WBC title shot, and is a decent scalp. Now Inkin has nothing to lose, so he'd probably turn up!

Showtime will want to build Andre Dirrell to a world title this year, and I'll bet Andre Ward next year. Maybe this could be the big fight.

Okay, thanks - happy to be put right. I knew it was shown in Canada but I don't suppose that gives Froch any leverage for pushing his claim to be HBO worthy.

Does anyone have rough viewing figures/reach for the various sports networks in the states? ie does pretty much everyone have basic cable?

Yeah, what I meant was it was shown in the states a few weeks later.

Yanks surely like that style of fighting, as seen by the recent popularity of Margarito.

Is Taylor tied to HBO?

I don't know if this is bollocks, but apparently Steve Kim has written that Taylor v Pascal could be on Showtime March 28, to set up a Froch fight.

Why have a hard fight like Pascal, which could soften him up for a Froch bout?

I reckon Froch will for whatever reasons still only fight twice in 2009. Four month gaps should be enough between fights especially if they finish quickly.
