Lawton has done lots of sparring with both Khan and Murray and feels in the best shape of his career at 32. Have a read; all comments appreciated.

Lawton may have learned from Khan, but as good as Martin Gethin is, Lawton hasn't made drastic improvements, Gethin is simply a league below Khan and Thaxton in terms of offensive. Lawton's got a level he can compete at and English title level is about right. He'd probably still go a similar way if he boxed John Murray.

He's supposed to be fighting Henry Castle next and whoever wins that one deserves a crack at the British title.

Lawton's on a nice little run - Gethin and Hamidi - and I hope if he gets by Castle that he can get a British title shot.

Khan was too fast for him, as Khan has world class speed (though not world class skills). Lawton did give Thaxton a very good fight, so another Britihsh title fight would be good.

i've read it now. probably would have been smart to pull out anyway even if he was 100% if there's a British title fight out there for him.

 Posted before I read the article.

I was interested to read about the sparring. One day Murray in charge, next day Lawton. This is classic sparring stories, but I'm in no doubt who wil be in charge if the real thing ever happens.
