A "multiple world champion" will be announced as the next opponent for Amir Khan at a press conference on Thursday.
The Commonwealth lightweight champion will be having his second bout since being knocked out in 54 seconds by Breidis Prescott last September. He stopped Oisin Fagan in two rounds in London last month and returns in March. Those close to allegedly allegedly are staying tight-lipped about the opponent, but I have been told it is a "modern-day legend" and a "multiple world champion". Nicky Cook, the WBO super-featherweight champion, Enzo Maccarinelli and Kevin Mitchell, who has been out of action since last June after having a hand operation. Khan is to train for the bout at Freddie Roach's Wildcard gym in Hollywood and is due to fly out at the weekend.
Any ideas who it might be?

I was fed up seeing fighters who had established themselves being effectively on the undercard of Khans fights. Do people on here just hate boxing? All this "people who don't really follow the sport" self-important crap - if Khan won, do you really believe it wouldn't be a good win? Are people here just so bitter, you couldn't even give him any credit?
They may be taking the risk that Barrera is 1- fighting above his natural weight, 2- past his best, but Khan is still at the prospect stage and just one fight past getting knocked out it's still Barrera. The guy's a bloody legend.
Classic example of some people will big up Jon Thaxton (who I think is a lovely guy by the way), despite the fact that he got slaughtered by Romanov (Having struggled with Dave Stewart) and knocked out a second rater for the Euro title, yet will write Barrera off as washed up, even though he boxed Pacquaio 14 months ago.

i actually wrote 'this is a good idea for a fight for khan' and after the prescot loss he has lost alot of his fanbase who were prepared to pay for the ppv who wouldnt do it after the loss, if he beats a big name like this he becomes a big draw again and wont have to have his shows stuck on as part of another fight

it would have been interesting to see the odds had Khan not lost to Prescott.
And Amir Khan is no David Haye, so that makes the equation even more unbalanced.
