Roberto Duran at lightweight:Most difficult title defense
Which in your view of the 12 title defenses by the great lightweight world champion Roberto Duran at lightweight was his toughest?
Re: Roberto Duran at lightweight:Most difficult title defense
This is a difficult question because most of Duran's challengers soon went into reverse gear and sought to survive - even Esteban DeJesus, after an exciting start in the second of their three meetings.elmersalsa wrote:Which in your view of the 12 title defenses by the great lightweight world champion Roberto Duran at lightweight was his toughest?
Hector Thompson did grit his teeth and meet fire with fire, though, until he was knocked out.
Re: Roberto Duran at lightweight:Most difficult title defense
I'd say maybe Viruet, if only because he made Duran work the full 15 rounds.
But all of his lightweight challengers were eventually shut down and beaten very decisively.

Im a bit biased but Hector Thompson went down swinging. He went toe to toe and put up one hell of a fight.
