I believe that the average viewing figures for a BBC televised boxing show is roughly 4 million.
Compared to BBC'S football highlights, which is 2.5 million viewers.
Also BBC were just about getting somewhere after building up their fighters i.e. Froch, Haye, Cook, Pickering, Witter, etc. These lads were just becoming household names, so to pull the plug on them now would be madness.
The BBC could show live boxing.
The BBC have no chance of showing live Premiership.
BBC could compete with Sky for Boxing, but with football they ain't got a prayer.
Football rights must cost hell of a lot more money than boxing.
I am sure Audley Harrison was stuffing the BBC big time, now he is out of the way there must be more funding available for the other promoters to stage bigger shows that would attract more and more viewers.
