Macca v Ramirez WBO cruiser title?

Post by Autobarn »

Last night Russian prospect Alexander Alexeev was stopped, in Germany, by a tough South American, Ramirez. For the WBO Intersomething bauble. Now we know why Alexeev wasn't moved faster into a proper title fight.

Enzo Mac's foe, Jon Banks has pulled out (to fight Adamek, IBF/Ring mag champ) of their vacant WBO title fight. So he's down to fight another TBA, moved back to March 14. Has to be Enzo v Ramirez, surely.

Can this fight happen on March 14? Or later this year. Looks like the "wait and see" strategy has paid off and an opening is there for Mr Mac.

What's Ramirez's status, surely Universum or Spotlight have got an option on him?

I imagine as you mention Autobarn that Universum have probably taken up options on him prior to the fight in case of this eventuality. I doubt Macca would be flung in with a dangerman like this, who is unknown and can bang a bit as they usually scope out the opponents to a tee and wait for the "right" opponent to come along first.

I'm not convinced that a Banks deal was ever done. Ramirez on the other hand doesn't really have backing so it will be an easy deal for FW to make and cheap too.

Surely the Germans - if they have a piece of Ramirez - won't bid much for Ramirez. Can see the South American having to come to the UK to contest the title.

Mac is surely more important to Warren than Ramirez is to Universum or Spotlight or whoever.

Hopefully this fight happens fast. Ramirez isn't an accomplished pro and Mac could do with that WBO title.

If Ramirez can take a shot he would most likely KO Enzo..

I'm sure Enzo could box Ramirez the way he boxed Braithwaite

Me to.

So, provided Banks is fighting Adamek...

the WBO top 2 available fighters must be Enzo and Ramirez.

When and where will it happen?

Going by this video clip Ramirez looks a bit crude, but very strong.
