Come on William Abelyan!
Come on William Abelyan!
I know he will do it, Harrison is an overrated load of trash and my man Abelyan is going embarrass and whoop his ass!
It's a shame Abelyan isn't a huge hitter because he would give Harrison a serious beatdown, but I am still looking at a late round stoppage win for Abelyan or a points win. Abelyan is only a lower tier world class guy but this is going to be god's way of telling Harrison not to mix it at elite level, because he is out of his depth.

Yes he is fairly weak and doesn't have any real pop in his punches, but he will still be too much for Harrison. Abelyan has one of the many styles that troubles Harrison and his power is sufficiant to keep Harrison at bay in accumilation. I don't think Harrison is weak chinned, but I think the reason he can get hurt easily is simply because he is a robot that doesn't/can't move, so obviously, in accumilation, it will dent him, as Walter Estrada was eventually beggining to do, untill he mysteriously folded.Lefthookhappy19 wrote:In the the clip they showed of Abelyan on Ringside I thought he looked pretty weak. His punches from that fight looked incredibly soft.

He probably thought Harrison was going to mug him like he did in that cowardly two on one assault the other week.Lefthookhappy19 wrote:I also think Abelyan looked a bit nervous at the press conference when he came face to face with Scott.
I honestly think Harrison is a thug and I think he did it.
But in a boxing ring, this is going to be Abelyan's night.

Well I'm off for my stag do now, Peckham of all places
I'll have to see if I can get control of the TV ( snooker hall ) to see what happens, but I'm gonna be outnumbered by footie fans no doubt.
Harrison to win late I reckon, after losing the first 4 or 5 rounds with a slow start. No idea how good this guy is though.....

Right, obviously i'm devastated about this result. I will have to admit and come to terms with the fact that Harrison won.
But that does NOT mean that i'm impressed! In my opinion, my man Abelyan was handing Harrison's ass to him on a silver platter untill Scotty caught him.
As one dimentional and primative as Scotty is, he does have good power and he is incredibly strong, but if Abelyan was able to stand up to it, he would have won even more convincingly than Medina did.
So, bottom line is, Abelyan was winning that damn fight with ease (apart from a close-ish 1st round) untill Harrison caught Abelyan. When Harrison fights a top level guy who can take this pressure, he will get exposed as the fraud that he is.
But i'm not dissapointed in my man Abelyan, he was doing a nice job untill he got caught. It's boxing and it happens.
Harrison has nothing going for him except for power, size and a little bit of courage. I am still not convinced that Scotty is genuine top 10.
Scott Harrison is not for real!

But it was only a three round fight, so I don't think that 'Bar the first round Abelyan owned him" is really much of an achievement. In the second round Abelyan was troubling Harrison with his quick hands but, come round three, Harrison nailed him and finished him, end of. Fact is, he didn't stand up to that shot, it's part of the fight game to be able to take your opponent's shots. There's really no argument, Harrison won it in three, pretty convincingly against an opponent who everybody thought would give him problems. You can't help be decently impressed at the very least.AlexY2K4 wrote:Yes it was a good win, but anyone can get through with a good shot and take someone out.
Bar the first round, Abelyan owned him up untill he got caught, and would have continued to be the fashion had he been able to stand up to that damn shot.
Abelyan should have won that damn fight!
Well, okay, I went a little OTT in that post as it did only last three, but I will give credit to Harrison getting him out of there and having the W. But I still wasn't impressed. The first round was just a feeling out round that Harrison won, I honestly think that the second round was a prelude of things to come, but sadly, Abelyan got caught and i'm gutted.
Oh well....

What fight were you watching? I was ringside for this and Harrison won the first two rounds with ease, landing a few solid left and rights to Abelyan's head, taking the odd powder puff punch in return and a good uppercut in round two. Abelyan clearly had the faster hands but he couldn't get the range right and ultimately he was blown away.AlexY2K4 wrote:Well, okay, I went a little OTT in that post as it did only last three, but I will give credit to Harrison getting him out of there and having the W. EDIT JUNE 20th, 10:39AM: HARRISON LOST ROUND TWO BUT I LEFT MY COMMENT IN COS I'M HONEST!
Talk is indeed cheap and his pre-fight babbling was the most impressive thing he did since stepping off the plane. He will no longer be thought of as a contender after this annihilation.
Alex, I don't know what your problem is with Scott but you need to get over it.

Know what you mean, mate. I reckon if Michael Spinks could have taken Tyson's power better that he'd have whupped Mikey's ass for him. :PAlexY2K4 wrote: As one dimentional and primative as Scotty is, he does have good power and he is incredibly strong, but if Abelyan was able to stand up to it, he would have won even more convincingly than Medina did.

As for the fraud part of your post...well, if you don't think Harrison's top level material then fair enough, that's your call, but where does fraud come into it? One thing Harrison is and that's an honest professional who has chosen to learn the hard way by fighting experienced professionals whilst he was still a relative novice.
You don't like the man, that much is obvious. Just a pity that shows through so much in your posts or I might have even take you seriously.

I bet even Abelyan has shown more grace over Harrison's win.
Before you accuse me of being a Harrison supporter, I'd originally tipped Abelyan to win (changed my prediction about 12 hours beforehand to a late Harrison stoppage fortunately).

Good win for Harrison, true Abelyan was causing problems with his speed in he 2nd round, but Harrison found a way to counter-act that. By knocking him out.

I have to say you're embarrassing yourself with these posts. The bottom line is Abelyan was crushed in convincing fashion. To talk of owning another fighter based on one round of a 12 round championship fight is laughable...as the events of the following round proved.

Dude, talk some sense! I'm hardly embarrasing myself! I am a knowledgable boxing fan and I am just one of the many Harrison skeptics.
First off, that Glasgow mug who said Harrison won round two is clearly a biased Harrison fan. Secondly, I will admit I was a bit harsh with Scotty. I was impressed with the manner of his win, but I just feel that in such a short fight, his limitations were once again exposed. In round two Abelyan made Harrison look like a clown, and that second round is just telling us what will happen when Harrison steps it up another gear.
True, I will admit that I detest Scott Harrison, both as a fighter and as a person, but it's not sour grapes, I don't rate him and I think he will get exposed against the majority of the top 10 - 15 in the division.
Forget what I said about Abelyan winning the fight as that was just frustration on my man's loss, but the fight was even and if Abelyan could do in round 3 what he did, I would love to see what Juan Manuel Marquez or Erik Morales would do!
Not that Harrison deserves to share the ring with these guys, I mean, what has he done to deserve his shot? And these superior fighters will want to fight the REAL fighters and eran more money at the same time instead of wasting their time with this clown! Who the hell is this Scott Harrison guy?
And one last thing, how can you root for a common street thug?

Alex mate, I think you need to calm down a bit, you're taking this all far too personally. No ones telling you too like Scott Harrison, or to 'Jump on his bandwagon', we're just giving our opinions on him. Fair enough if you don't agree, I don't expect you to, but these forums would be pretty boring if everyone had the same opinions, wouldn't they?
