Looks like it's already on the Showtime schedule.

There's loads of reasons why a guy like Banks would prefer the Adamek fight. Recognition, location.

This Ramirez who beat Alexeev - as he on the shortlist to fight Macca last time Banks pulled out?

Banks is confirmed to fight Adamek in Feb, and not Enzo. Makes me wonder if he'd EVER signed a contract to fight Enzo..

So where on earth does Enzo go from here?? BJ Flores has a bout listed for Jan 23rd against TBA, but otherwise who??

If, IF the Khan/MAB fight happens then surely Enzo will be fighting a bum for chump change right?
What a complete and utter load of bollocks. Banks was made with Enzo via a purse offer. He has signed for the fight. Where do you get your bullshit info from? He's not confirmed to fight Adamek either? Again where did you hear this was confirmed, it wasn't from Banks or his people that's for sure? Has Enzo ever earned chump change? If he had, how would you know? Why don't you stick to what you know instead of making up what you clearly don't?- FOOL!
If Banks was made via a bonafide purse offer, then why isnt it cast in stone that Enzo vs Banks is happening on this bill? Why on earth *wouldnt* it be happening?? Why am I not reading agressive language in the press from your organisation about his fight with Adamek?? Blimey, if his people havent agreed for him to fight Adamek, someone ought to tell Showtime

When has Enzo fought for chump change? You tell me fella. But MAB isnt fighting Khan for chump change, so you do the math.

Just do the right thing, and get in USS Cunningham. You're already dealing with the Don.

Word is that newly crowned IBF cruiserweight champion Tomas Adamek (36-1, 24 KOs) of Poland will make the first defense of his title against world ranked challenger Jonathan Banks (20-0, 14 KOs). The bout would take place February 27th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and be aired live on a special edition of SHOWTIME’s acclaimed ShoBox series. Adamek won the title at the same venue on December 11th, dethroning champion Steve Cunningham in front of a large Polish crowd. Banks was to fight Enzo Maccarinelli for the vacant WBO belt in December, but had to pull out with an ankle injury.

Mmmmmmm!

:D
"Word is" does not equate to "confirmed" by any stretch of the imagination.

There's six pages elsewhere on this board slagging off the credibility of newspaper coverage, but i something's on the internet, it's gospel!

Maccarinelli to face Cunningham?

It looks increasingly like Enzo Maccarinelli will meet Steve “USS” Cunningham at the MEN Arena on March 14 for the vacant WBO Cruiserweight title.

Maccarinelli was looking to a bout with Jonathan Banks but Banks withdrew from a December date for the contest and he now looks set to face new IBF champion Tomasz Adamek in Adamek’s first defence of the title he won from Cunningham in one of the fights of 2008.

Although nothing is signed for a fight between the two yet, sources close to the Cunningham camp have said that a deal would be easy to do as both allegedly and Don King are already working together on the event which sees Amir Khan face Marco Antonio Barrera in the main event.

Maccarinelli lost the WBO title last March when he was blown away by David Haye in a unification bout but he is now looking to reclaim his belt.

The appointment of Cunningham as opponent would probably be welcomed by Sports Network as they will most probably look to put the card on pay per view in the UK and a big fight between two of the top cruiserweights in the world would add selling power to the card.

I'd be amazed if Warren makes this fight. It would be a great one.

Way to engage with the paying public!! You must have missed the lesson on Public relations when you were at Boxing Promotion School! And you wonder why so many here have an inherent distrust of your paymaster!

Surprised if it's Macca-Cunningham.

Obviously if Banks is out, Cunningham is a worthy challenger. But isn't this Ramirez the top WBO contender now? Surely Ramirez is an easier fight for a vacant title.

Cunningham is hungry and skilled. He'll be hungier than ever after losing to Adamek. On the other hand, team Enzo will have seen Cunningham lose to Adamek so no doubt they fancy it a bit more now.

And there is this about Warren and King getting together due to the MAB=Khan thing.

It's surely going to be Ramirez, he's now world rated, he's relatively inexperienced, and he'll be cheap.

We'll hear plenty of rumours in the coming weeks about Cunningham, Banks, Flores etc, but Warren will make the easiest and cheapest fight, that's a fact. If this one falls through i'm sure we'll see some unknown European make a meteoric rise in the WBO rankings overnight just in time for March 14th.

No. If something sounds too goo to be true it probably is.

That said, if the Nicky Cook fight leaves the bill, then we might be seeing Macca V someone half decent.

In this day and age three top quality fights on one bill seems somewhat unlikely- but I do hope to be proved wrong!

Cunningham has shown he is willing to travel before and may take a cheaper purse knowing it's a way back in after his close loss to Adamek. Would be a good build up to a rematch for the end of the year if they get big wins against Macca and Banks.

But to be on the same bill as Khan v Barrera sounds way too good to be true

with Universum's big investment Alexeev beaten, it looks like Warren controls the WBO title!

It's pretty much confirmed...
MK: How is the case with the Jonathon Banks fight? Is the contract signed already?

Tomas Adamek: The formalities aren't done yet, you don't sign a contract in a day, there's procedures to be followed, but everything has been ironed out and as for today I can state that I will meet Banks in the ring. He agreed to the fight, I did too. The official contract will be signed next week, most probably.

I think at this stage we can say for sure Enzo's opponent will not be "ankle" banks.

Yeah, that would have made things convenient. But I was thinking, Cunningham's almost as good, probably trickier than, the main champ Adamek. Cunningham is a hard fight, though willing to concede home ground etc. Whereas this Ramirez guy, he's proven his worth by beating the top WBO contender/super prospect Alexander Alexeev. Probably an easy guy to bring over too, strong but very raw.

Enzo v Ramirez is a good, dangerous fight. Enzo I expect to put on a clinic but there could be moments of real danger. Good little matchup. Macca should win, they know what they're up against with Ramirez. A fight worth watching, for sure.

King obviously also has Adamek, the top man at the weight. This is the real gain fight, IMO. Cunningham would be a very big risk "just" for the WBO title, as I see it. If you can fight Mark Hobson (solid British gy, no offence) for the title, then Cunningham is way too risky and not enough gain.
