Mosley-Margarito Predictions

Post by Hagler2002 »

If the same Sugar Shane turns up that fought Mayorga I can see Margarito walking straight through Mosley and giving him a very one sided licking, stopping him around about the 10th.

On the flip side if he fights the way he did against Cotto he should see the final bell, but honestly at his age what on earth is he doing getting in the ring with a fighter who is a monster at weight and arguably at his peak.

Like you say, it depends what Mosley turns up. The Mosley that fought Mayorga was gassed after six rounds - if he's the same here then Marga will stop him. But Mosley does have a chance to out-box him, but I don't think he has the stamina to compete with Marga, but to be fair, not a lot of people do. I will go for a late stoppage in the 11th for Margarito, after Shane wins the first two but loses the rest of the rounds.

I say Magarito decision, don't think Shane can keep up with his work rate, but I also think Shane will not brake down like Cotto did. The only way I see a stoppage is if Mosley's corner pull him out between rounds

Mosleys got the style that could cause Margarito problems, but after watching how much he'd deteriated in the Mayorga contest I can't see him pulling this one-off. I reckon the most likely outcome is a AM decision, but he could stop him late on IMO

I think Margarito's size and physicality is going to cause big problems, as Mosley usually trades on being the bigger man. Mosley will probably start well, but I think that Margarito takes over down the stretch, possibly getting a late stoppage.

Margarito Points. Mosley has yet to be stopped and is fading, but a decent defense.

Margarito, and I wouldn't rule out a stoppage. Mosely is spoiling a lot more these days and depending how much he does this in the fight will decide wheather he hears the final bell or not. Shanes's quick and punches hard, but I'll stick with the man in form....correction, sensational form!

If the Margarito that wore down Cotto turns up, I see him stopping Mosley on his feet in about the 10th.

I'm gonna say Mosley on points. Probably my heart ruling my head as I've been a massive fan of SSM over the years but I'll look like a genius if Sugar Shane can pull out one last great victory. :DDD

Plus, in the grand scheme of things Margarito is limited. Sure, he's tough as nails, throws a massive about of punches, has above average power and is a huge welterweight but he's definitely lacking in the finesse department and is prone to being outboxed. The Mosley of a few years back would have won no doubt.

Another thing - if anyone is feeling super lucky, Mosley is 6-1 to win on points. I've got a cheeky tenner on that.

Think Shane could be on the wrong end of a bad beating here, he gets hit way too much these days - hopefully his corner (dad?) looks out for him - Margarito TKO9

Because although Margarito is very good, he's can be outboxed. He's not some dominant fighter who doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. He has a tonne of weaknesses, but his toughness and stamnia keep him out of trouble. I'm not saying Mosley is the man to beat him at his age, but it wouldn't shock me if he did. BWhat bothers me is why is Margarito fighting Mosley instead of fighting Paul Williams again? Boxing politics are getting in the way of a rematch that would be very good for the welterweight division and boxing as a whole.

margo on pts.

mosley is tough enuff to soak up margo's punches and have moments of success.

but he's not elusive enuff and slick enuff these days to outscore margo's straight lined attacks. :box:

Margarito decision. Bet 365 has it as evens, which is tempting me.

I think Margarito might stop him, Rounds 9-10 - certainly going on their last fights.

Right after reading Derek "couldn't tip a wheelbarrow" Bilton's preview I'm going with Margarito on points as he has gone for a Tony KO/TKO, not only didn't he bother to find the best price available for his suicidal followers he also wrote (Margarito) "will enjoy height and reach advantage" I think you will find Derek, Mosley actually has the reach advantage.

I reckon Mosley will KO him just by the fact that if his timing is right, he throws very good shots and Tony is an easy target.

What time GMT is the fight? If it's a 5am job I can't see myself staying up for it, those 5am jobs are a nightmare, throw your whole weekend off. Which is gutting because I would love to see this fight.

Anyway, I think Shane will have grown old overnight and Margarito wins KO6.

Margarito is just none stop action, so much workrate and such a good chin, not a good opponent for any ageing fighter. Mosley should outbox him early, but then he probably fades. Marg is an easy target and Mosley can bang a bit, but Cintron was a monstor puncher too, never though Cotto was a banger personally. I hope Mosley uses his speed and boxes Margs head off and gets a famous last great victory

No way does Mosley KO Margarito - Antonio didn't so much as flinch after absorbing bombs from Cotto & Cintron.

I think Margarito will dish out a painful beating here and will stop Shane late. My impression at the time was that Cotto could have possibly stopped Shane late but didn't really go for it.

Mosley is seriously tarnished by BALCO for me and although he seems a nice enough bloke with a great attitude in terms of who he fights, I won't be sorry to see him lose.
