Barrera would destroy Scott Harrison!

Post by Tuffnutz »

Sorry McCoy, but after the way Barrera dominated and destroyed Ayala is see no way how Harrison can beat him.

No way would harrison take those vicious left hooks to the body that Barrera unleased last night. :o

No way would he take that wicked right hook to the temple followed by that awesome combo that finished Ayala.

Scott harrison looked good last night but Abelyan had a weak chin and a crap defence. Everytime Scott landed a punch on him he just stuck his chi out even more and allowed Scott to finish him off with more punches. He had no idea how to defend himself after taking a punch and he let Scott land on him at will.

Don't let Scott's performance against Abelyan fool you. This guy was unknown until we found out that he was due to face harrison, and last night we saw why.

Although Ayala did'nt look too good last night it was down to the fact that Barrera was far to skilled for him. Barrera showed that after 62 fights and a devastating loss he can still comeback and destroy a world class fighter like Ayala, who happens to be a much better fighter than Abelyan.

I cannot see how scott Harrison coudl deal with the skills and body shots of Barrera not even at the age of 30 years old and 63 fights. :o

I know atleast 3 reasons why Harrison has not got a chance with Barrera:

1) Barrera is too clever for him

2) Barrera is too clever for him

3) Barrera is too clever for him

For a while now Barrera has not been producing the fire of his peak years but he's still a damn good boxer. That finishing salvo last night was brilliant. It doesn't appear to me that the Pacquiao defeat has messed him up in any way.

You'd have to favour Barrera over Harrison but WHAT a fight it would be to look forward to. I reckon both camps would fancy it.

Harrison wouldn't beat Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao or Marquez, but FW won't even make those fight's so it doesn't matter.

I'd give Harrison a shot at beating Pacquiao, who by the way would have no chance in a rematch with Barrera.

Granted, Abelyan had a dreadful defence and people like Colin Hart were aying how his speed would be a factor. Looking at the previews on SKY I thought is it me? , because I thought Abelyan was SLOW.

Harrison would have no chance with Pacquiao. Harrison can't fight going backwards and he would walk right on to one of Pacquiao's straight lefts. He's to one dimensional to beat any of the the four fighter's I mentioned.

I doubt too many would share your confidence mate. Barrera looked good last night because he's always been a good fighter. But he didn't look better than before the Paquiao slaughter.

Harrison said he wants a unification match, which rules Barrera out (and Maloney wouldn't go anywhere near Barrera after what the Mexican did to Paul Lloyd a few years ago).
Now, who is the WBU featherweight champion...

yeah i thought he looked slow on the previews becasue he is slow.

The first thing i noticed was his upright "chin out" style and his total lack of defence.

Looking at the guy from behind he almost looked like a smaller version of Corales.

IMO Abelyan had one of the worst defences ive ever seen espepcially by a boxer who was supposed to be as skilled as he was.

When Scott landed a pucnc it was like Abelyan thoguht to himself "Go on then, land another 5"

He should of grabbed and held or run and stuck his hands up but he just stood there and let Scott hit him at will. :-?

He was troubled by every solid punch that Scott landed and lets not forget that Scott isn't a big puncher.

Barrera had to change his style because he could'nt keep fighting like he used to.

He still showed that he could unlesh powerfull KO blows on a fighter when he see's the opening.

That left hook to the body in round 8 and the right hook to the temple in round 10 ahd the potential to take out any fighter in the divison.

I doubt that pa-Man or marquez would of recorvered from that shot to the temple. It completly robbed Ayala of his senses. It was a peach. :TU:

Agree that Barrera looked brilliant last nigh, the finishing combo was excellent and his body work throughout was just brutal. But could you see him fighting the same type of fight agiainst a hard punching, natural featherweight? Don't forget, Ayala, while a world class boxer, is a non-puncher, even at super bantam. This was clever matchmaking by Barrera's people.

I actually disagree somewhat to the majority of posters. While for the most part Barrera looked awesome - I think there were categorical signs that he is slowing up. The Barrera of a few years ago would have KO'd Ayalia in the 8th. Can he sustain a pace any more?

Barrera will be too much for Harrison, but not sure about Pacquiao.

I think its time for Ayalia to either retire or move back down, he was not the same fighter who gave Morales a hard fight.

barrera does'nt fight like he used to that's why he looks slower and seems to throw less punches.

ive said in a previous post that he could'nt go on fighting like he did.

Nobody can fight like barrera did in his early days for their entire career and keep it. The guys was a machine. :o

barrera is more of a defensive fighter now but he showed on saturday night that he can turn the heat up when he sees an opening.

i'm still amazed that he can come back like that and destroy Ayala after such a bad loss to Manny. :o

OK. Ayala isn't much of a puncher but nobody expected Barrera to do that to him.

I defnetly would'nt right him off in a rematch against Mann. on that performance it really does look like Barrera's problesm really did effect him before and during the manny fight.

Tuffnutz I agree with your post. But, he should have stopped Ayalia in the 8th. He was finished, but I was a little bit shocked at Barrera's stamina, he seemed like he punched himself out in the 8th, and lost the 9th IMO.

He is going to need tremendous stamina to keep up with Manny, has he got that anymore?

I'm not saying Barrera is finished, but in Pacquiao and Marquez are exceptional fighters also.

How can you be shocked at the guys stamina when he looked fresh as a daisy after the fight?

i don't think he looked punched out at all after the attack in round 8. Ayala is a tough SOB and he coudl take what barrera had to dish out even after those vicious body shots.

I actually gave round 9 a draw but i think Marco decided to take that round off a little. He was a mile ahead on the score cards andhe knew that the stoppage would come sooner or later so he did'nt rush his work. He was outboxing Ayala so easy it was almost like he was carrying him, IMO.

Tell me something, stu ?

Do you think marquez or pac-Man would of stayed on there feet after that first ferocious bodyshot in the 8th? i don't.

Do you think they woudl of took that vicoius perfectly timed right hook to the temple that setup the finishing combo in round 10? I don't.

Those 2 shots in particular were some of the most well timed, accurate and powerfull shots i ever seen any version of Barrera throw.

When he sees an opening in can stil land those excellent blows with pin sharp acccuracy, and IMO he can still take out any of the top boys with defensive boxing and combinations like he showed us last night.

How many boxers have you seen that can still fight like that after 62 fights and a devastating loss? :o

I can't think of any besides Barrera.

One thing i learned after the Ayala fight is that Barrera is NEVER to be written off.

They wrote him off after his loses to Junior Jones and look how he came back.

me and many others wrote him off for good after the Pac-Man loss but now i'm not so convinced that this guy is finshed, yet.

After marquez beats pac-Man by UD in the rematch i woud like to see Barrera fight Pac, KHTFO, then persue a fight with Marquez.

With Frank Maloney involved Harrrison will never be allowed anywhere near Pacquiao, Barrera, Marquez or Injin Chi. Good job to, he'd get tatered ! eh Frank ?

Totally agree with this.

As Victor would say, Marco will need to up his game if he's going to compete with Marquez and Pac. Smooth boxing skills are not enough on their own.

as Ive said in previous posts, Scott is a decent world champ, solid but one paced and sometimes one dimensional as Medina exposed. He is a hard bugger though but to say he would beat the real top fighters of the division (and I include Chi in this also who vastly underated in my opinion) is somewhat optimistic in my view.
